The baby seemed to be quite active in the waiting room. However, when we got into the room with the ultrasound machine, the baby appeared to be asleep.
The heart rate was at 138bpm.
The top photo is the baby's profile. The face is in the left hand corner, the spot by the face is the hand, seen better in the second photo.
The bottom photo is a side shot of the baby, you can see the baby's feet curling up over the top of the photo.
"If you want to know my sex, click here."
The doctor came in and asked how our ultrasound went! I had to remind him he wanted to wait another MONTH!
Heartbeat was normal, and the doctor sent us to schedule our ultrasound appointment.
I scheduled it for March 31, 2003. The 24 week appointment is on April 7, 2003.
Before the doctor came in, I was sitting there thinking that the baby was moving around a lot again. The doctor put his Doppler on my stomach and we immediately heard the baby's heart beating. The doctor said "This baby is moving around ALOT!"
When I said, "Yes, it does seem to move around a lot," the doctor looked surprised and than said it wasn't too surprising I could feel it since it was moving SO MUCH.
He was so pleased by all this movement, that he decided not to set up an ultrasound until next appointment. I'm kind of disappointed, I don't want to wait that long to see the baby again! By then, it will be almost 24 weeks. The good news is, at 24 weeks, it should be easy to determine baby's sex!
On my way home on Dad's birthday, I all of the sudden felt like I had swallowed a moth and it was bashing itself against the walls of my stomach! I felt like the old lady that swallowed the fly! The next day, I felt a "goldfish" swimming around in the same place!
Since then, I have not felt anything so obvious, but I have felt strange movements. I'd say it feels more like indigestion, or churning, than it does like a moth or fish. Sometimes I feel tiny flicks that I assume must be a kicks.
It is so reassuring knowing the baby is alive and kicking in there!

The doctor listened for the heartbeat and said the baby was moving around too much and we'd surely hear it next time. We were a little worried since we had the miscarriage this summer, so the doctor took us into the ultrasound room and showed us the baby.
The baby WAS moving around a lot! It raised its right hand and opened and closed its fingers for us. It kind of looked like the baby was waving at us. The doctor had a hard time getting this picture because the baby didn't want to hold still long enough!

The circle at the top is the yolk sack, and the thing in the middle is the baby. The baby's head is on the right side between the point and the plus. The baby's heart is right next to the point (and was beating at 169bpm when we saw it) The line below the baby is the umbilical cord. The baby is 1.69 cm long, and measures 8wks 1day, (4 days bigger than it should be!) Doctor did not move the official due date (7/24), but the ultrasound put the date at 7/20.
Under the ultrasound picture is a photo of a human embryo at 8 weeks in approximately the same position.
