*sigh* Well, this page will never ever ever be finished, because I have now found a job!
So...this remains my unfinished masterpiece. (har, har.)
I'm being hardened.
These preliminary road blocks
Are a strengthening tool
Training--Boot Camp
For the real shit of life.
The ignorant bricks
And heartless scholars,
The delusional self-sufficients
And life-sucking leeches.
My journey will not be
for the faint of heart
But I will endure
For the practice I've had
Is top-of-the-line.
Damn. I will have this friggin' thing finished by the end of the summer. Hell, I'm bored anyway...maybe it'll even begin to look good as a result of my utter boredom! :)
Anyway, the thought of the day is: LIZ ROCKS.
So visit her site...
Ya know, I think I really do have a short attention span. I haven't even completely finished one section of this page yet, and I've already abandoned it for practically 3 months!!! I think it's safe to say that I suck.
Anyway, I added another year to my age last Friday (the 23rd). It was fun; I had some people over and it was just kinda relaxing--not nearly as hectic as last year (long story...).
So I think I'm going to try and start adding things again; maybe finish the Brit actors section at least, and perhaps even start the RENT part??!? We'll see.
Yikes---It's practically been a month since I last worked on this thing! I'm ashamed of myself and my lack of perserverance. I think I'm just going to do a little at a time now; maybe it'll help me to accomplish more in the long run.
I'm really getting into the tangents of "Shakespeare in Love". Right now I'm reading Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead", and I'm dying to see the film he made of it. It's really great stuff! My cousin in NYC told me about Stoppard's "Arcadia", so I've got to read that next. Apparently, Robert Sean Leonard (whom I've admired since "Swing Kids" and "Much Ado About Nothing") was in an NY production of "Arcadia"! DAmn, I missed it!
I always try to research as much as I can when I find something interesting. Joseph Fiennes, for example. (ha, ha.) Speaking of Joseph Fiennes, I am so disappointed that the friggin' Academy people failed to recognize Joe's talent and didn't nominate him for an Oscar. Geez. "SiL" gets 13 nominations and not one of them is for Best Actor. "Elizabeth" gets 7, and of course no Joe Fiennes. Both get "Best Actress" nods however. What the f*#k?!? How can a movie be good if the guy who plays SHAKESPEARE wasn't amazing???? ARgh. People never fail to aggravate me.
The Genie Awards came and went. (If you even know what I'm talking about I congratulate you.) Yay for "The Red Violin", "Last Night", Sandra Oh, and Don McKellar! Of course, they're all associated with each other and Rhombus Media Inc. Everybody knows everybody in Canadian film (and I am not joking).
I saw "Shakespeare in Love" again today.
Yesterday I went with a friend to see François Girard's "The Red Violin" and John Madden's "Shakespeare in Love" at the movie theatres. I'd been dying to see these two films for a really long time, so I feel very satisfied now that I have. They were both unbelievably amazing, but they're so different that you can't compare them to say which is better.
François Girard and Don McKellar wrote "The Red Violin". They wrote a brilliant script (in my opinion, anyway-some of the critics are a bit more cynical), and I loved how they incorporated so many different cultures and languages into the story because I'm totally in love with languages. The music composed by John Corigliano (sp?) fits in beautifully as well; I bought the soundtrack even before I saw the movie, but it doesn't work as well alone-you need a visual to go along with it. I really admire Don McKellar (I also saw his film "Last Night"), and I think he's a really intelligent sort of artist. He just knows how to write a good screenplay.
"Shakespeare in Love" is equally as brilliant because I think Tom Stoppard (who co-wrote the film) is well suited to write for Shakespeare. He seems to have the same kinda mindset. It's pretty overwhelming though, with all those tongue-in-cheek jokes and allegorical references that he makes. I guess the less you're aware of them the easier it is to take the whole thing in. If you do know about them though, it's all the more reason to see the thing over and over again so that you can catch everything! (hee hee-it's also another good excuse to see the amazingly beautiful Joseph Fiennes as Shakespeare, too…)
Y'know what? I just realized something about my infatuation with Joe Fiennes (that I believe is profound). I have just figured out that I'm in love with the characters that he portrays, not him! I'm totally in love with the portrayals, not the person who is doing the portraying. Am I incredibly stupid to have just realized this now? Maybe...
After almost three years of being online, I've finally decided to make this webpage of mine. Yikes! To think for three years, I had no clue as to how HTML worked!!! For some time now, I've wanted to share a small part of myself, and put it online for whoever should happen to somehow find themselves here...
Well, here I am! I'm going to mainly concentrate on my greatest interests, which are mainly artsy fartsy sorts of things like theatre, dance, film, amateur photography, and writing. My intention is to further indulge myself in these crazy interests of mine through this page; to express my love for it all! (cheesy, i know.)
