My art reflects what comes out of my sensorial experiences coupled with my imagery. To me, art is a combination of physical, geographical and social realities combined with artist’s inner and psychological explorations. Nature attracts me. When I am in nature, I can feel a strong presence around, I let myself be caught by this spirit and a door can be opened, images come from outside going into my brain and are transformed into a mixture of combined expressions and When they are transferred to the canvas or any other medium, they take meaning by themselves. I find these images in things suspended in the air or in the water. Other times they come from the reflections of the spectrum of light in the atmosphere, and the final product comes out of my internal emotions, imagination. Altogether; nature, the social environment, anatomy charts, etc., a fusion of different elements which represent the experience. Also, I have used body images, from the organs that form a system, until the basic cellular units, as a source of forms, colors and textures to enrichment of the works, because to me, they are elements that represent the inner human nature. Heartbeat, liver functions, the skeleton system or the respiratory apparatus, all these vital processes that are out of our conscious control, are very interesting to take like part of my language in the works. Some of my objectives are to connect the individual with his (or her) own inner functions and find something extraordinary in the ordinary life activities. The technical part of my work is important too. I like to use a pallet of strong and vibrant colors on a thick canvas. The lights and shadows show many waves of light and a varied toning, which produce different mental effects to the viewer. I have no pre-determined vision of the final painting. I follow where the energy leads me, and then attempt to focus that energy to a final result. I use human hair in the paintings to symbolize growth, life and death. Hair also contains biological information and there is an identity embodied in It. Painting releases intense and intimate emotions in me, through color, different elements I try to show the flow of these emotions. Also, in the last years, I have experimented a new dimensions to express, I enjoy to play with new materials, mediums and to explore, like land art or object art, performance. I am now studying the play of light in water and this experience is giving me a different concept about the dimensions and possibilities for new work. My body is made of the same organic materials found in nature, I believe everything exists is part of the same world and is ruled by the same physical and biological patterns, and I consider my artwork a reflection of my reality experience, it is the echo of those physical and biological patterns with me. So, my art is like life: is changing; sometimes explodes, collapse, contracts, expands, always in movement. Sakino |
