The Hexagon Mosaic Design is a combination of a regular
six-sided figure with a diamond in the center; at the top and bottom you
have a deltoid or triangular threading pattern.
This design should be worked on a long, horizontal board
with good quality fabric and thread, or you can paint the board any color
you like. The Hexagon Mosaic shown in the color picture above was worked
on a board 18" X 36" on a maroon cotton weave fabric with gold lame thread.
Since this is a combination of three patterns and each
design pattern is worked three times, this project is not recommended as
a beginner's project. There are many brads to be hammered and the threading
should be exact in every hexagon or else the completed wall hanging will
not be uniform.

Making Your Design Pattern
Using 1/4" graph paper, trace the Hexagon Mosaic design
pattern in Figure 44. Now, working line for line and square by square,
transfer the design to 1" graph paper. Your pattern should now be full
size, approximately 9 1/4" at the widest point and 10 3/4" at the highest
point.
Working the Threading Pattern
All lines are threaded with the one-to-one correspondence
method. Steps 1 to 4 are repeated three times, once for each of the hexagons.
1. First work the inside of the diamond,
threading line J with line K and line M with line N with the one-to-one
correspondence method (see Fig. 45).
2. Thread line N with line I; line I with
line J; line M with line L; line L with line K (see Fig. 46).
3. Thread line M with line K and line N
with line J (see Fig. 47).
4. Now thread line A with line B; line C
with line D; line E with line F; and line G with line H (see Fig. 48).
