Ivory

Ivory was purchased on 3/2/2002. She is a short haired, satin coated, black eyed white mouse, (only she's satin, so that makes her black eyed ivory). She is very skittish, and quite the escape artist. Whenever I lift the lid on her bin she is at the rim looking ready to jump. She looks to be 6 to 8 weeks old and also a couple of weeks pregnant. We will keep at least one of her daughters to increase our breeding stock, as that mouse will be genetically diverse from our main group. Her babies this time will at least be heterozygous satin. I don't know all of her genetics. What I believe to be true is the following::
Ay/* -- ce/ce -- sa/sa
or
Marked Mouse/Variegated mouse
- Ay = Red
- ce = extreme dilution
- sa = satin coated
Mouse Litters
- Litter #2: Ivory seems to have lost her litter to Thoreau. Whether they were born and consumed or aborted is a mystery. She is now due to be bred by her own son, a BEW, when he is old enough and if she can conceive.
-
Litter #1: Father Unknown - Ivory had 5 babies, 4 boys and a girl, who are also all Satin. One is an even marked agouti mouse named QTp. Two of the babies were banded! One I named Mouse who is a little agouti banded mouse with a head spot, the only girl in the litter, and the other is Rusty who is a black eyed fawn or red banded. Another broken marked mouse is the most delicate shade of gold so I named him after a gold Nugget. The last baby is a true mystery. Even though Ivory is a BEW mouse, it seemed impossible to believe that she had another BEW baby! But she did and his name is Caspar.
