Dichotomy

by Karen M. Raymond-Hart
"Here we are again my friend,"
I rhyme the cliché

But there is no friend, just us,
Red and me

Thin bloody scratches and release
relief with the bloody beading
dripping

Somehow I feel better;
and worse in my shame

Why, I'm not clear
shattered glass is me

See the root of it
little pain
except the psychic kind
and that is enough
to tear asunder

I am in
metaphorical bloody shreds

but the cuts come
and I am whole again

a bloody dichotomy
