Carolyn Smith, Indiana Commissioner

Greetings! My name is M. Carolyn Smith, but please call my Cari. I am the youngest Commissioner by far in Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie, currently being 21 years old. I am a senior Sociology major at Franklin College of Indiana, in Franklin, IN, a town 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. I enjoy singing, playing my violin, watching movies, reading books, collecting coins, and spending time with my boyfriend Zach Crowe, my friends, and my family.
If you're wondering what a 21 year old woman is doing as Commissioner, when it's hard enough these days to get anyone in my generation to do anything, well I will tell you. My grandfather and I have had a hobby of being amateur genealogists in our family. He focused on his side of the family, the Wilkinsons, and I was interested in the French side, the Stangles, and the Scottish side, the McCormicks. During the summer of 1998, I had lot of time on my hands interning so I was investigating my roots, and found that the McCormicks were a sept of Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie. Further investigation in an essay a cousin of mine wrote brought forth that our part of the family was indeed a member of Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie. I came into contact with Newsletter Editor and Commissioner for OH/KY/WV Wilbur McCormick, and he sent me more information on the clan. In the summer of 1999, I finally joined the clan and soon after I was offered the position of the Indiana Commissioner because there wasn't one beforehand. So here I am...
That's about it for me. There is another section on this page that is probably redundant but has more info on me, so if you click here you can read it. Also, eventually I will have the bio about me that was published in "The Battleaxe", the Clan's newletter. Slainte!
