my experience with the music of D-Boy
I don't remember when I first heard OF D-boy. After all, he was
pretty popular in the day that I was into the Christian rap
scene the most. Back in the time, around 1990, when Dc Talk put
out their second album Nu Thang(which is their greatest
to date). Anyway, I don't remember when I first heard OF him
and how great he was. But, I do remember the tape that I first
heard him on.
It was on a tape that I bought. I don't remember the title of
the tape. However, it did contain a couple of other artists
that I knew and wanted to hear. It was a sampler type thing.
The song that was on it was called Pick Yourself Up. I liked it
pretty much. I hadn't really tried to get any of his 2 cds (which is
all he made before he was killed in 1990). Though I knew I would buy
them immediately if I ever saw them. I didn't search for them.
However this past summer I was blessed to see them in a store. If you're
like me sometimes, you're sure to look at the cds that are on sale. That
is what I did. And, included in them, were 2 D-Boy cds!! Anyway, I bought
and was proud of myself for doing so. But, once I got home I realized that
one of them was actually an album that was a tribute to him and contained
only a few songs that were not on the other cd. But, I was glad for both of
them. I have enjoyed these cds VERY much because D-Boy was such a talented rapper.
His words were so clear. As he said (they should learn to do as him) "when ya
step to the mike, learn how to pronounce". That is one thing he was very good
at doing.
The two cds I own are "Plantin' A Seed" and "Peace to the Poet".
