how the issues facing today’s youth will affect future generations

The problems affecting today’s teens, namely drug abuse, gang involvement, and teen pregnancy, are affecting the future generations in many dramatic ways. First they are destroying the family and taking away moral character. They are also killing people and causing pain to the relatives.
Drug abuse causes people to not only act in a totally different manner, which can turn spouses and friends away, but requires the addicted one to do many things to get the money to support his/her habit. When a person does drugs often it takes away their ability to concentrate, think straight and learn. A person like this does not get the education that they need to get a job that supports them. This lack of education in more and more people gives future generation a less prepared work force.
Gang involvement usually includes the dismissal of important responsibilities and a separation from parents or a positive influence. Gangs have promoted crimes of all sorts and often lead to murder of the innocent. This causes severe weight and mourning to be on the head of the parents and friends of the victims. This is a way that some of the could-be great people end up dying. This problem with gangs gives future generations nothing good to look back upon and not to much to hope for. This also attributes to the less prepared work force.
Teen pregnancy is one of the 3 areas that I believe will have the most dramatic and permanent effect on future generations. Teen pregnancy often leads to marriages to other people that would not have taken place except for the fact that they just wanted the best for the baby. This is one of the worst things you can do, especially because most of the time the husband and wife are fighting, disagreeing on how the baby should be raised. They were not prepared to have a baby. They are not prepared for the responsibility.
This will affect the stability of the American family. What we used to have was strong families, now we have weak, torn families. This causes a feeling of unacceptance in the child. They feel they are not accepted, therefore they search in other places to find acceptance. This often leads to the other problems: drug abuse, gang involvement, and violence. This is destroying hope in many lifes which might have been great. This takes away everything from people. This takes away from the scientific, computer, medical advances that the people could have made, if only they hadn’t come from a broken or poverty-stricken family. This also leads more and more to a unprepared work force.
