once saved, always saved
I have heard a lot lately about the 'once saved, always saved' philosophy. But, the more I look into it the more I
realize how mistaken they are. I realize how much my beliefs differ from theirs, and how their teaching can really cause problems for the children of God.
What the 'once saved, always saved' people believe is that there is more to being saved then just saying a simple
prayer. But the word of God says "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
(Romans 10:9) In other words, all you have to do to be saved is to confess that that the Lord Jesus is God and believe that He was raised from the dead. Being saved is not
more than that. It is simply believing and acting upon that believe.
At this point that person is saved. If they died right now I have ABSOLUTE faith that they would be in heaven. They
are saved. Yet, they need to grow. After salvation they must stay in the Word and stay in prayer with God. They must grow in their faith. They must become stronger person
spiritually. This is what 'once saved, always saved' people misinterpret as salvation. Salvation is the act of 'believing in your heart that that God has raised Him from the dead'.
What happens after that is growing spiritually.
I am able to say this because God has revealed to me many of the lies that have been included in this type of philosophy.
See, the type of philosophy encourages the attitude "I'm saved, I can do whatever I want". That is something that no one should ever believe because that is a lie out of the pits of
hell. Satan would have it no other way but to see you believe that lie. It says in the bible that "It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,
who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age,
if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
(Hebrews 6:4-6) In other words, you can fall away!!! He didn't say that they can't, he said "if". Once you are saved, you can fall away and lose your salvation.
