My revelation

This is something that I wrote right after a retreat in the Phillippines.

    Our Friend

I’m normally not much of a talker or a writer of anything more than poetry. But the Lord has revealed something to me that I would like to share with you.
The problem is with most churches. they all focus only on the fact that God in and of Himself is all holy, mighty, and deserves reverence in all things. Now that is true. God is worthy and does deserve glory and praise. I’m not disagreeing with that. But, we have to realize that at the same time He is our friend.
When we are going through tough times or feeling lonely it is usually hard to look up to God in reverence and humility, especially for new Christians. This is a part of being human. God knows that. We’ve got to realize that He knows this and that He wants to be our friend during those times. He wants to show you how much He loves you.
When we forget about God’s friendship He begins to lose that personal touch on our lives because we begin to feel that God is out of touch and that we should only approach Him with reverence and praise. Spending time with God becomes something for Sundays and for church. We begin to lose that intimacy with the Lord. When that happens we begin to backslide and become ineffective in our ministry and in our Christian lives.
In order to live the way Christ wants us to we have to realize that He is our strength and our refuge and He is our greatest friend. We must turn to Him in everything we do. We must realize that He is our strength and will always be our friend when no one else will. We must never forget that God is our friend.
