Witnessing

{This was written for as an article for HYPE e-zine}

                      When it comes to witnessing I only have 2 things to say. 1 be see-through. 2. Back up what you say by living what you say you believe.

1. be see-through

           Some people, when witnessing, tend to over-spiritualize things. They tend to use spiritual words or ideas that the common person is not familiar enough with. They use these big theological ideas and do little good. In order to be effective when witnessing we must use ideas that are easy enough to understand for those who are not knowledgable of the spiritual.

           Some people, when witnessing, tend to make themselves into some kind of a spiritual superhero or act like they live a life without problems. This puts major distance between the people and makes witnessing VERY ineffective and almost impossible. In order to be effective when witnessing we must be what Audio Adrenaline calls "see through." We must be real. Show them that we're just human and are not perfect nor do we live a life without problems. Sometimes a testimony is the greatest tool for witnessing.

2. Back up what you say by living what you say

           Many people watch us Christians in every day action and look at what we do to see if what we do contradicts what we are saying. And many times, I'm afraid, they are not let down. Because many Christians are NOT living what they claim they are living. Nor do they act like they believe what they claim to believe. They say they believe that this is wrong, but when they're with their friends or alone.. they do it.

           So, many times the greatest way to reach people is to simply live by the things you claim to live by. More people will be reached through that then all the preaching or all the discussing in the world. So, simply living like you believe what you claim to believe can be a great tool of witness all on it's own.

           That's about all the tips that I have for you when you witness. If you follow those two tips I believe that you will have a great amount of success. But, remember, the greatest preparatory for witnessing is reading the bible and prayer. Keeping that in mind and following my suggestions will help you greatly when witnessing.
