Once upon a time there lived an old man

and his wife, and they had a chicken.

One day the chicken layed an egg,

not a simple egg, a Golden egg.

Old man tried and tried to break it -- could not,

his wife tried and tried to break it -- and could not.

A mouse ran by, swung his tale,

the egg fell and broke.

Old man cried, his wife cried,

so the chicken said:

"Don't cry, I'll lay another egg,

not a golden egg, a regular egg".
