Subreality Café:
What Happens Now? Musings of a Character
This is my attempt at writing a Subreality Café piece. If you are going to
send me a message please be kind. I do not take criticism very well, never
have never will. I tend to get very nasty and if you want to avoid putting me
in a bad mood, please be kind. My husband to be will be very grateful as he
tends to get the brunt of it. Send them to admiraldraala@hotmail.com
Disclaimer and the who's who is at the end of the story.
By Admiral Draala
The door opened to the Café and a tall, brunette walked in. She had been
here many times and every one knew who she was. Waiting until her eyes
adjusted to the light before she started to look for the person she was here
to meet. She caught sight of her sitting at a table in the back and started
to make her way over. All the regulars were there and she nodded to them as
she passed by. She stopped for a moment to say hi to Selena, Kelsey and
Kimber, who were talking at a table in the middle of the café, that happened
to be on her way over to her friend.
"It certainly took you long enough to get here. Do you have any idea how
long I have been waiting?" Mystic asked as Ricochet finally made her way
over to the table and took a seat.
"Hey, I am sorry, but I ran into Gambit and once you start talking to
him," Ricochet stopped to take a drink of the coffee that Mystic had ordered
for her.
"I know you just get caught up in the whole illusion. So how come you
are always the one to talk to him?" Mystic answered before Ricochet could.
"Hey I am his sister remember. Can I help it if I am more popular that
you are. Besides you only had a brief part in the last chapter, I have been
in almost every chapter." Ricochet pointed out.
"Big deal later on I become his love interest. That should make me more
important that you any day of the week."
"You know what they say, blood is thicker than water," Ricochet told
her, rising out of her seat.
"Yes but you are not really his sister are you! So what makes you more
important that me?!" Mystic yelled pointing her finger in Ricochet's face.
Everyone in the Café turned to see the two scowling woman at the back of
the room. "They are at it again aren't they?" Jared Walker asked as he
looked over his shoulder at them from the bar.
"It certainly seems that way. I wish that they would just get over it. I
mean they are not the first ones to fight over Gambit and they won't be the
last, but it is getting old," Dawn commented as she shook her head at them.
"What is it that every one sees in him any way? I mean he is only one
guy, he isn't a God, is he?" Hot Shot asked looking over at the still arguing
women.
"Not as far as I know. And they say that Jean is the bad one for
attracting the opposite sex. I guess you have to be a woman in order to
understand," Jared answered before returning to the conversation he was
having with Dawn.
"Hey! Will you two settle down over there! Some of us are trying to have
conversations over here that do not involve Gambit!" Silver yelled from the
front of the café.
"Sorry!" Both Ricochet and Mystic yelled back.
"Don't feel bad. You guys are not the first ones to fight over an X-Man."
Summer said as she waked over to the table that Mystic and Ricochet were
sitting at. "Do you see Denver and Amie over there?" both of them nodded,
"They fought over Gambit for months, because both of them had a child by him.
Than again so did nearly every one here. Then we have Jessica and Deidre,
they are still fighting over Iceman. Kelsey just laughs at the both of them.
For some unknown reason as soon as someone becomes popular every one seems to
fight over them. Just try not to let it get to you."
"The frustration of not knowing what comes next, just seems to be getting
worse." Mystic said.
"Well just to let you know, Vadeline is holding a, Women Trying to Get
Over the Cajun, support group on Thursday night. From what I hear, it is
quite a success. Vadeline should be here in an hour or so, if you wanted to
go." Summer then left to go meet Perkolator who just walked in.
"Back to the point of the conversation, what did the Cajun have to say?
Does he know what is going on?" Mystic asked as she took a drink of her Coke
and returning to the topic at hand..
"Not a thing, in answer to both questions. But, he did hear that Admiral
Draala was working on her other story. So you know what that means?"
Ricochet said as she leaned in closer to Mystic.
"The Bitch will be back. I knew that something was up, she hasn't been
around in a while. Then again this could just be the thing that we are
looking for."
"That's true. Once Draala is done with her, she could go back to us.
But, what if she decides to take a hiatus or something? We could be put on
the back burner again. Or worse," Ricochet pointed out. "You know what that
means don't you? We will be amoung the UNFINISHED!"
Their conversation was interrupted by Brian Duchette banging his hands on
their table. "You will never guess what I just found out?"
"That the bitch is on her way back?" Ricochet asked.
"She is?" Brian asked slumping into a seat looking very disgusted. "If
she is you know that we will never hear the end of it, you do realize this.
It will be, 'it's so great to be working with so and so,' but that is not the
reason I came over here. I was talking with Siku, and it seems that Admiral
Draala may be talking with Darqstar about using the two of you in a story
with Siku."
"Get out of here! It's not funny to say such things," Mystic punched
Brian in the arm.
"I am not kidding about this. Would I lie to you?"
"He does have a point Ric. We could be on our way, then we could show
her." Mystic said.
"Well I must be going, I have a date," Brian said as he got up from the
table.
"Let me guess it is another one of those bimbos you like so much,"
Ricochet laughed.
"Just for that I won't tell you who. I will also remember that, so when
and if we get back to work I will be extra hard on you." Brian then left the
two to sit and contemplate what they just heard.
Soon after he left the door opened and a tall sleek red head in black
walked in. Everyone turned and groaned when they saw who it was. She mearly
ignored them and sought out the two that she was looking for. She spotted
them and moved in their general direction.
"Well if it isn't the high and mighty Shira Skywalker. I thought that you
were still working. What are you doing here? I kind of figured that you would
be hanging around all of your new friends." Dex snickered at Shira as she
walked by.
"I see that you and Silver are still here. I guess that it has been
awhile since the two of you worked. You should not be the one to cast
stones." Shira answered as she walked past them.
"I see that she hasn't changed much, still the bitch," Silver whispered
to Dex after Shira walked by them.
Shira stopped in front of Mystic and Ricochet. "Well isn't this a site.
What have the two of you been doing since I have been gone?" Shira asked
taking a seat.
"I don't remember saying that you could sit there," Mystic said scowling
at her.
"Now is that any way to treat you sister?" Shira asked trying to sound
hurt.
"Lets not start this again shall we. How can we forget that you were the
one that came first, and that Mystic was modeled after you. You really need
to find something new," Ricochet told her.
"So how come you are here? I though that you were getting ready for your
emotional chapter," Mystic asked. "You know the one with Mara Jade."
"It seems that Admiral Draala wanted to work with the Empire angle for
awhile. So now that I have the time, I thought that I would spend it with
you." Both Mystic and Ricochet looked at each other and prayed that
something would happen soon.
"Well it may not be for long. It seems that we may be doing a story with
Siku." Mystic blatantly told her.
"Please! I don't think so. You two do not have the talent to pull
something of that caliber off."
"Hey! We have just as much if not more than-" Ricochet never had the
chance to finish what she had to say as she disappeared.
"It seems that you may have been mistaken. It looks like you are the one
who is in for the long wait. You may want to get comfortable. You may also
want to try and be nice to everyone. It could get very lonely." It was then
that Mystic disappeared.
Shira sat at the back of the café and watched as everyone carried on with
their own private conversations. "Is anyone interested in playing a game of
cards?"
