Ok, I realize as I write this, that I haven't written in almost a week, and I feel somewhat bad about that. My only excuses, or reasons, are 1) I haven't quite gotten into the swing of this, and 2) it was Memorial Day and I was visiting Ginger.Unfortunately, I really was close to my pad and paper, had templates for the HTML, and was near an online computer the whole time. I just didn't feel like writing this weekend. I will do a better job. I will, because I must. I did show it to Ginger, though, and she thought it was a good idea.
The trip to Raleigh this weekend was great! I left work around noon, and Charlotte a measly half hour later. Armed with Wendy's food, and a full tank of gas, I headed for Raleigh. I'd decided to stop in Greensboro on the way back, instead of out, since I'd be coming home on a Monday instead of Sunday...so I just drove on through.
I'm pleased that I avoided both Charlotte Race Traffic, and Raleigh Rush Hour. Yaay! I got to Ginger's work place around 3:30, and we headed for food/shopping/home soon after.
I hadn't realized how hot it was getting until I went to Raleigh. Ginger doesn't have Air Conditioning. Yipe! Talk about sweat. Oh well, can't have everything. I got a new game, but haven't tried it yet. Ginger bought Daggerfall, and I showed her how to play it.
I had taken my VCR, and since we were pretty apathetic about the current crop of movies, so we rented movies [We'd heard that The Lost World is both plotless and bad science. Maybe on video, eh? We're waiting for MenInBlack]
We saw an Americanized version of Moll Flanders with Morgan Freeman, and while it wasn't bad (despite it's predictability, Morgan Freeman is just an excellent actor) it wasn't the Moll Flanders we remembered from PBS. Guess it's time to get the book, eh?
After that, we didn't want to read subtitiles in La Cage au Folles, so we popped in the Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It was an order of magnitude better than it's American Version (To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar). The characters were real people, with depth, problems and attitudes. I especiallly like the husband and wife who were both bisexual.
On Sunday we decided to go ahead and watch La Cage au Folles, since we had it. Its plot and Birdcage's are almost identical, down to nitty gritty details. Overall, I'd say Birdcage was better, if only because they had adapted it very well to the American audience. [Political jokes for Americans, and some Robin Williams-esqe moments]
The new Yendor was out, and we downloaded and played with that. Finally, it was Monday, and I had to head home.
Overall, it was a great trip, and a relaxing weekend. Things yesterday at work stirred things up in my life a bit, but more about that tomorrow.
