Tuesday, November 11, 1997 -- Kewl Kat Kapua

Kapua, seems to have recovered from his ordeal on Sunday I love all my pets, Dickens, Maggie, and Kapua.

It was hardest for Dickens to win my love, because, well, he's a dog. Maggie is quite, and constant in my life...and the time I thought I'd lost her was almost as bad as when I found out what really happened. Kapua, though does some things no pet of mine has ever done.

Kapua watches me play video games.

None of my cats has ever been interested in TV's, Monitors, or Mirrors, except for maybe one time, the first time they ever noticed. Kapua still fights himself in the mirror every now and again, much to Azura's and my amusement.

Tonight, I was on the beanbag chair playing Final Fantasy XII while I did some downloads on my computer. Azura was on the phone with someone, and Kapua was in the den with me. He was sitting right under the TV, as close as he could get and be on the floor, looking right up at the TV. His ears would flick every time I cast a spell, or called up a menu (with it's little beepy-click sound). In short he was watching me play the game.

Later, i was installing some software on the computer, doing things like typing commands in, or moving the mouse around on the screen. You know, normal computer stuff. Kapua wasn't happy, unless he was right up at the screen, watching the cursor or mouse move around the screen. Occasionally one of his paws would come up and bat it. The only problem was, I couldn't see the screen when he did that! So, I'd pick him up, and put him on the floor, and he'd get right back up, and in my way. That's a cat for you.

Kaos and Maggie both had a habit of wanting to share my reading time. If you own cats, then you know that reading in bed is not allowed. If you are awake and in bed, the only sensible thing to be doing, is petting the cat. Kapua's not overly interested in that yet. He's still interested in feet. Yow!

He does like to be petted though, and has one of the loudest and most incessant purrs of any cat I've cared for. (You don't own cats--they own you.)

Today was another comedy of errors on the computer front. Now that I'd gotten my home pc up and running, my work system crashed hard. The only thing I didn't have to do was format the hard drive. Thank goodness for small favors. (and it really was a small favor.) My networking still isn't set up at work--so I'm not getting any work done. Good thing I was practically finished, anyway.
