Joan Barton lives in the Northwest,which works
quite well for someone who loves camping, hiking,
river rafting, tree hugging, flower sniffing and other
outdoor activities.
Her academic interests include the new science, how human beings and human systems learn and change, and exploring ways to bring more soul, more spirit into daily life and work.
The loves of her life are the delightful souls she has had the joy of mothering and, now that they are adults, embracing as friends: a son, a daughter (who loves and cares for her two extraordinary grandchildren), and a foster daughter who came to her at the age of fourteen.
She finds great pleasure in poetry, wild and lovely places, good reads, films with substance, playful hearts, and good strong coffee. She prays for peace, sings to herself, dreams of waterfalls, struggles to really know herself and find the courage to grow through fear, dances with abandon, and plays a damn good hand of pinochle.
