Our Campaign Plans

Once again I'd like tto congratulate you all on a job well done. For the fifth week in a row, we were mentioned in the soap magazines. This week our online campaign drew notice in the Soap Opera Digest.

In their October 7,1997 issue under "Mail Bag" it states: Online Days Of Our Lives devotees are holding out for a Mike/Carrie pairing even though Carrie just married Austin. In fact, they say, "For Carrie, Mike is just what the doctor ordered."

This is highly encouraging. It means that our campaigns are getting the attention it needs to get Mike and Carrie together. Please keep up the hard work on the letter writing, email, and message boards crusades. Also, so that we have a good idea of how many people are participating in the crusades, please email me at JAXYkat@aol.com or Elaine at EyeDClaire@aol.com and let us know if you're participating, as well as which Crusade you're taking part in. Again, let me explain our three campaigns. Our new campaign will start in our next newsletter.

Mike and Carrie's Song

As stated before, most supercouples have more than one song. This week, the song we're dedicating to Mike and Carrie is the Kenny Loggins song "For the First Time." In it, we see and feel how it's possible to see someone you've known for a long time in a whole new light. This is the way Mike looks at Carrie.
" For the First Time"
Are those your eyes?
Is that your smile?
I've been looking at you forever
But I never saw you before.
Are those your hands,
Holding mine?
Now I wonder how I could have been so blind.

For the first time
I am looking in your eyes
For the first time
I'm seeing who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is, love is,
For the first time.

Can this be real?
Can this be true?
Am I the person I was this morning,
And are you the same you?
It's all so strange
How can it be?
All along this love was right in front of me...

Such a long time ago
I had given up on finding this emotion
Ever again
But you're here with me now
Yes, I've found you somehow
And I've never been so sure.

For the first time
I am looking in your eyes
For the first time
I'm seeing who you are.
I can't believe how much I see
When you're looking back at me
Now I understand what love is,
Love is,
For the first time...

Personal Appearances

Roark Critchlow, the actor that plays Mike Horton was in Salem, IL on Sept. 21,1997. One of our Crusaders, BradyGirl, was able to be there. Here's what she had to say.

Ok let me start from the beginning. Roark was giving a Q&A session about the storylines and fielding questions from the audience. I was the last person to ask a question. Well, it wasn't really a question. I told him about the Mike and Carrie Crusade and the Fan Page and my alternative storyline. He asked me about my storyline. And then in front of everyone at the brunch said "I think I need to talk to you after this is over." You could have knocked me over with a feather. And you should have seen all the green eyes in the room just wishing they were me. I loved it!

Well Roark came around and gave autographs to everyone and when he got to me he said he didn't have a lot of time to talk but the lady with him gave me a hospitality pass to see him and talk with him later in the day.

I had to wait around until 4:15pm but I didn't mind. When we finally met, he asked me to help him design his web page. I told him that I don't do that but I could put him in touch with someone who did. (When he calls I'm giving him Nancy Gill's address in Fresno. She does the Mike and Carrie Fan Page)

Then afterward he said "I'll be in touch." Can you believe that? And he also took my storyline to read. So my personal goal was met. Yahoo!

BTW I got to hug him a total of 3 times and got my picture taken with him twice. He is VERY gorgeous BTW. And i got to hug him! Nah, nah. =) And I also took a whole roll of film that I hope comes out. He was so nice to everyone and so patient. He did autographs outside from 2:30 - 4:15pm. His hand must have been tired. He's a real genuine person and you can tell just how much he loves his family. I've never met such a nice man before. He smiled the entire time and joked and sang the Ballad of Mike Horton. I wish I could remember it all but I was laughing so hard that I forget how most of it goes.

Here are some interesting storeline points he revealed.

Mike is going to try to move on with his life with a woman he knew in Isreal named Debra.

Carrie isn't quite as happy as she thought she'd be about Mike getting a girlfriend. She gets jealous.

Carrie asks Austin to kiss her like in her dream. Like that wonderful passionate kiss she dreamed of in the cabin. When he kisses her, she realizes that something is missing.

Roark confirmed that Austin and Carrie's marriage wasn't real. It's invalid. (Mickey screwed up?)

He said that Salem IL is THE Salem on Days.

Sami is going to pretend to be a nun to get back Austin and throw Mike and Carrie together.

John is going to fall off a cliff and Hope rescues him. (How ironic)

Stefano really does want Roman to live. He needs him to live no matter what other people say. It's part of his plan to get Marlena.

Eric's secret? Is that he doesn't have a secret. TPTB haven't come up with it yet.

Other than that it was a very full day and I'm tired right now. But I think I'm on Cloud 109! =)

Mike and Carrie Web Sites

A few Mike and Carrie web sites have been brought to my attention. The biggest one was mentioned in our last newsletter. The address for those of you who may have lost if: www.bestinwest.com/magic. They're a very big part of our Crusade. Another one was made by DOOLCarrie and is reachable through her web page at: members.aol.com/DOOLCarrie/index.html.

Editor's Chat Room

SOD Days' editor has a chat every Thursday from 5-6pm est. All you crusaders on AOL may want to stop in and put in your two cents worth about Mike & Carrie, and any other Days' storylines near and dear to your heart. Let's make our voices heard.

Crusaders Chat

For Crusaders on AOL looking for a place to chat intelligently about Days and about Mike and Carrie, without the immature attacks and flaming that often occurs in the normal chat rooms dedicated to Days, join us in "salem", a private room where those looking for serious Days chat gather. We will be chatting this week on Wednesday night from 8-10pm CDT. We hope that Crusaders on AOL will find "salem" to be a place to enjoy more pleasant chat all week long. This will be hosted by Tico Moose.

For those not familiar with AOL's chat rooms, simply click on the chat icon. When you are in "Town Hall", click on the button labeled "List Chats". Once there, click on the button "Private Room" and type "salem" and then click go.

Days And GH Fans

I have noticed that many of us Days' are also GH fans. I've also noticed that Many of you Crusaders are also Jax and Brenda fans. I see the similarities between the two situations, so it's not surprising. I just want you guys to know that fellow Crusader Kristy is also one of the leaders of the J&B Reuniters. If you'd like to join her campaign, please email her at Spoiled@aol.com. She'd love to include you.

The Love Shack Scenario Winner

The winner for the love shack scenario entries was Scene 3 by BradyGirl. Thanks again for all of your votes. Here is the winning scenario one more time.

Scene 3
MIKE AND CARRIE SAGA (my version of the cabin love story) Part 17

Carrie walked up behind Mike and put her arms around his waist. The sun was peeking through dark rain clouds. She watched it as it made its slow descent. Then whispered in his ear.

"You know there are worse things than being stranded alone with me."

Mike looked down at her and smiled. "I'm sorry, Carrie. I'm just anxious to get this medicine to your father. I guess I'm thinking like a doctor right now." Mike pulled out the small vials and looked at them. "Dr. Brooks is dead and these may not even cure Roman." Mike squeezed the vials in a death grip and jammed them into his coat pocket. "It's all so frustrating."

"Hey." Carrie turned Mike's head toward hers. "If this isn't the answer, we'll just keep looking until we find one that works. We have to."

"I know. You're right." Mike hugged Carrie. What would he do without her. The dark skies above them crackled and released a burst of rain over the small cabin. It took only seconds before the water soaked through their clothes.

Mike looked toward the heavens. "Perfect timing." He used his coat as a make shift umbrella, and the two of them ran up the driveway toward the cabin.

"You think that was a message that you needed to cool off?" Carrie laughed.

"Maybe." Mike smiled and the rain came down even harder onto them. Even when things were going wrong, she managed to find the good in it. The windows were open and the rain brought a cool breeze into the cabin. Carrie shivered. "We need to get out of these wet clothes."

Mike looked over at the doctor. What were they going to do with him? They couldn't just leave him there in the middle of the floor. In a small room off to the side was a couch. Mike drug the body onto it.

"At least in death, he'll be comfortable." Mike said a prayer for the doctor's soul.

Mike leaned against the sink and looked at himself in the mirror. He was quite a sight. Carrie had left him a pair of sweatpants she'd found. It was the only piece of clothing she said he'd fit into. Mike stripped his wet clothes off and put on the sweatpants. Carrie was already out of her clothes. She was wearing the doctor's oversized dress shirt and looked every inch a woman. She was the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen.

Carrie watched Mike as he walked toward her. The fire Dr. Brooks had started was still burning in the fireplace casting golden shadows over the room. The rain glistened like gold on Mike's chest. As he walked over to the table and joined her, her pulse raced by the mere sight of him.

"What's all this?" She had put together a small feast for the two of them. "Wine?" Mike picked up the slim-necked bottle and gave a nod of approval.

"It's the only way to be stranded in the middle of no where." Carrie laughed.

"All this needs is a little mood music." Mike found a battery powered radio and tuned it into the only station that would come in. Celine Dion began singing "When I Fall in Love."

"May I have this dance Ms. Brady?" Mike pulled Carrie into his arms.

"Why Dr. Horton, I thought you'd never ask." They laughed and took a quick spin around the room..

"Remember that story I use to tell you when you were younger? Princess Carrie from the Land of Salem."

"You remember that?"

"Sure, how could I forget. You kept asking me to tell it to you over and over."

"It wasn't so much the story... It was you. I had the biggest crush on you. I'd do anything to be close to you. Even sit through that Princess Carrie story for the hundredth time."

"What are you saying? Are you saying my stories are boring?" Mike began to tickle her.

"No, no, stop. They're not boring." She laughed and Mike chased her around the room. "Ok, maybe a little." Mike caught her as she tried to slip past him. A small rug in front of the fireplace flew out from beneath their feet. They ended up lying on the floor, facing each other and laughing.

Even though he was laughing he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked in the golden glow of the fire. Laughter soon gave way to passion as they gazed deep into each other's eyes. All Mike could think of was her.

She felt so good in his arms. Carrie looked up at Mike. Her stomach filled with butterflies. These intense feelings had never been there with Austin. Mike brought his head down to hers and she gave into the moment. They were so wrapped up in the thought and feel of each other, that neither one of them saw the small ember fly out onto a stack of magazines. They quickly engulfed in flames. The fire blazed behind them a wall of orange light. It crept along the floor, blocking the only exit from the small cabin.

Mike pulled away to talk a breath and gazed down into Carrie's eyes. She reached up and touched his face. "I wish this moment, this feeling, would never end."

A wet strand of blonde hair stuck to Carrie's cheek and Mike brushed it behind her ear. "It doesn't have to." They were about to kiss again when Mike noticed a peculiar odor.

"You smell that?" He looked over his shoulder and saw the wall of fire. He rolled off Carrie and jumped to his feet pulling her with him. Passion had quickly turned to panic. Mike looked around for an exit route and saw his jacket lying on the floor in the bathroom. He flashed back to earlier when he'd jammed the vials into his pocket. Carrie was hypnotized by the flames. Pulling on her hand, she followed him to the bathroom. Mike grabbed his coat and they escaped through the small bathroom window.

Carrie was glad it had stopped raining. Twigs cracked beneath her bare feet as she watched the cabin burn. Mike ran to the car and pulled a blanket out of the trunk. He was making his way back to Carrie when lightening hit the tree above her. A large limb came crashing down causing her to stumble backward. She screamed and disappeared from his view.

"Carrie?!" Oh, God, Mike thought. Please let her be all right. He would do anything for Carrie even give his own life. He ran to where she'd fallen. It was so dark he couldn't see a thing.

Behind the fallen limb was a steep drop off. He looked down but saw only a void. Mike yelled her name but there was no response.

The Union Of Love

Thank you for all of your scenario entries. We sincerely enjoyed reading every one of them. The three finalists are the following three scenarios. Please vote on your favorite by emailing me at JAXYkat@aol.com.

Scene # 1

"Mike, darling," says Celeste as she approaches him at a Titan Publishing party honoring Bella Magazine's recent "Magazine of the Year" Award.

"You look a thousand miles way from here. I sense that you are very unhappy. Is this true?"

"No, no Celeste," Mike said, "I was just watching Carrie and Austin dance, and.."

"And wondering what it would be like to hold her in your arms as Austin is doing now, am I right?" asked Celeste.

Shaking his head, Mike starts to deny how close to the truth Celeste really is, but she interrupts, "Darling, you can deny these feelings all you want, but I'm telling you that Carrie loves you."

"Carrie loves Austin!" said Mike impatiently. "

When she married Austin, she was in love with the idea of being in love. Everybody told her she was in love. But I tell you this...she does not love Austin! Now I'm not telling you that she doesn't have feelings for Austin; she does. But it is an infatuation, nothing more."

Pausing briefly, Celeste continues, "I sense a more passionate woman in Carrie when the two of you are together. This is a passion she is trying very hard to deny. And one more thing, darling, you must tell her of your love first or all is lost. This I know," says Celeste as she departs.

"Celeste and her feelings," Mike mutters, "but could she be right?"

Watching Carrie and Austin dance, hadn't he noticed that her beautiful eyes no longer shone with the sparkle of a woman in love?

"Wishful thinking, I've got to stop this," thinks Mike.

Meanwhile, dancing with Austin, Carrie looks about the room noticing people laughing and having fun. Smiling, she tries to shake off memories of dancing with Mike in LA when they were trying to find a cure for Roman.

As the dance ends, Sami rushes up to Austin and says that Will needs his daddy and that she and Lucas can't get him to calm down. "Please, you've got to come and help Will...he needs you Austin," begs Sami.

Giving Carrie a quick kiss goodbye, Austin leaves with Sami. In that moment Carrie realized that she couldn't even begin to count the number of times Sami had come between them in recent months. What further shocked her was the surprise that she didn't really care about her sister's intrusions anymore.

Preparing to leave, she turned around as someone tapped her on her shoulder.

["When Someone Loves You" is playing in the background.]

"May I have this dance?" asked Mike. Leading her to a quiet balcony, Mike says,"I never like to see a beautiful woman without a partner when Old Blue Eyes is singing."

"My White Knight to the rescue," sighs Carrie. "Once again you hold me while I cry on your shoulder. Although actually Mike, I'm not really crying."

"Well this time, hold me Carrie. Men enjoy being held as much as women."

"Mike?"

"Yes?" he asked unsteadily.

"Nothing." she sighed indecisively.

"Carrie...I love you."

She didn't say a word; just stared up at him.

"I am the biggest fool," Mike cursed himself and Celeste silently.

Suddenly she throws herself against him, drawing his face towards hers.

Kissing her deeply, Mike gently cradles Carrie in an intimate embrace.

"How long have you loved me Mike Horton?" queried Carrie softly.

"When haven't I loved you Carrie Brady...Reed?"

Shifting slightly to look up at him Carrie says wistfully, "I have loved you for a long time too. I think it just took a while to recognize what it was, and even longer to admit it."

Looking at him uncertainly, Carrie started to pull away.

"No", he whispered, and pulled her back. His tongue caressed her lips before she could manage an objection.

Sighing unsteadily, Carrie looked into his deep blue eyes. She saw the man of her dreams for most of her life, and realized she was deeply in love.

In silent communication, Mike knew Carrie had made her decision...Carrie was his.

"What about Austin?" he needed to know.

"I don't know exactly, but what I do know is that you make me feel that I'm the only person you could ever love, ever need. That's what I need too, and I don't have it with Austin.

"Oh Carrie," he said, his mouth against her hair. I love you so very much."

She felt his fingers caress her face. "And I love you," she whispered as her lips touched his throat..."

Scene # 2

from The Mike and Carrie Saga by Bradygirl (part 23)

"I don't know how I'll ever thank you. It's not every day that someone saves your life. You've saved mine twice in twenty-four hours." Carrie threw her arms around Mike's neck. "You're my prince."

Mike could see John and Hope were still in earshot of their conversation. Mike cleared his throat a little uncomfortable that he had an audience.

"You know..." Mike stammered and gulped down a mouthful of air. "I think I know you well enough to tell you the truth." Carrie looked up at Mike.

"The truth? What truth?"

"I didn't start out as a prince." Carrie laughed. It was good to see her smile again.

"Really?" Carrie didn't seem convinced.

"I use to be a frog." Mike grinned a goofy smile down at her.

"Mike Horton I can't imagine that you were ever a frog. I seem to recall you looking might good when I was younger."

Mike laughed and blushed at the same time. This wasn't coming out exactly the way he hoped.

"If I'm a prince, it's only because of you. Every look you give me transforms me. Every word you speak inspires me. Every breath you take fills me with a bliss I cannot explain. My life without you in it would be empty and dull. Carrie, you brighten my world and fill it with so many wonderful experiences. You have for months now. When I thought I was going to lose you back there..."

Carrie put her finger to his lips. Mike looked on the verge of tears and Carrie felt choked up herself. She was standing there listening to Mike's profession, and suddenly it all came together in her mind. All the weeks he had comforted her. All the weeks she had cried on his shoulder about Austin. All those weeks and months had bonded them together with a stronghold that wouldn't let go. All along she had believed Mike to be a friend, her best friend. He still was, but now it was much more than that. Now she knew why being around him made her pulse race and her knees weak.

"You and I both thought I was going to die back there. And I didn't want to because I had so much living in front of me. Then I realized something, something very important." Carrie led Mike to a chair and sat him down. Pulling up another, she held his hands firmly in her own. "The living I wanted to do was with you. If I had died at that moment, my last thought would have been of your face. And do you want to know what my last words would have been?"

"Carrie, you don't need to think about dying..." Mike still spoke even though Carrie continued on.

"I love you." That stopped Mike in mid-sentence.

"What did you say?" Mike's heart was suddenly racing. She couldn't have said what he thought she just said. "Say that again."

"And do you want to..." Carrie was grinning from ear to ear.

"No, not that part. The part after that."

"Oh, you mean the part where I told you I love you? That part?"

"You love me?" Carrie nodded and Mike picked her up and spun her around. "You love me." He liked the sound of that.

"And?" Carrie looked at Mike expectantly. At first Mike seemed confused but soon caught on to her meaning.

"Of course I love you, Carrie. I have for months. You know that."

"I know." Carrie smiled brightly and laughed. "I just wanted to hear it again."

Scene #3

The setup: Carrie married Austin even though she was in love with Mike because she thought Mike did not return her feelings. It has been a year since the marriage and Mike and Carrie have been volunteering at the Horton House together. The tension between them has been building, and this scenario is the night it finally breaks.

Mike turned away from Carrie and stared out the window. "You see," he told her, "somewhere in that three months I fell in love with you." He paused then laughed a little. "I fell hard Carrie, and it has been tearing me apart ever since." Mike stopped and stood staring out the window. The silence in the room was deafening. Damn, he shouldn't have told her. She loved Austin and there was no use in confessing his feelings to her. It was just seeing her sitting in the lamplight, she had been so beautiful, then she had turned to look at him and something in her eyes had moved him deeply and the words and feelings poured out. He felt sick and put his hand to his stomach.

A hand on his shoulder broke into Mike's thoughts. It was Carrie and she was still there with him. He turned around to look at her. "Oh Mike," she whispered, "I was wrong, I was so wrong." She started to sob and collapsed in his arms and buried her head in his chest while she wet his shirt with her tears.

They stayed like that for a long time. Mike held onto Carrie like he would never let her go. She shook and shook against him and he tightened his arms around her even more, trying to absorb the incredible sadness that wracked her body. Slowly she stopped crying and she heaved a sigh against his chest. She was quiet for a while, and then Carrie lifted her head and pulled out of his arms. She stood there looking at Mike; her eyes were filled with so much pain that Mike's heart ached for her.

"You don't know how much I wanted you to stop me from marrying Austin." She said, "I wasn't in love with him but I married him out of obligation, or habit. Now I know it would have been better to be alone than to marry someone I didn't love." Carrie reached up to smooth Mike's hair away from his forehead and the touch of her fingers made him shiver. Then she continued. "This last year has been pure torture for me, and no better for Austin. I feel bad for him, married to woman who was in love with someone else."

Mike's head had started to spin with every word that came out of her mouth. "Carrie, does this mean what I think it means?" he asked her. She smiled at him and moved closer.

"Does it mean that I love you? Oh God, yes, Mike. I've loved you since we were in LA together. Mike reached out and pulled her against him. "We've lost so much time, how can you forgive me?" she asked, her voice muffled against his chest. How could he not, Mike thought to himself? Mike didn't answer Carrie but tilted her face with his and slowly kissed her. The kiss exploded red hot and electric between them, a kiss of homecoming and promises all wrapped together, with the strength of the wind and the whisper of a long sigh. It was a kiss of two lovers, torn apart and finally reunited. It was a kiss of hope.

The Vows

In order to keep our positive attitude, let's focus on Mike and Carrie's wedding day. As with most of the Supercouples of Days'', Mike and Carrie choose to write their own vows. We need all of our creative Crusaders to use their imaginations. We need submissions of what you think Mike and Carrie's vows to eachother should be. The top three will be placed in our next newsleter to be voted on. Email your submissions to me at JAXYkat@aol.com. Have fun!!!

Here's an example:

The minister turns to the wedding guests and tell them, " The bride and groom have chosen to write their own vows. Mike, Carrie, before your friends and in the eyes of the Lord, please share your vows with us. Carrie looks up at Mike with luminous eyes glistening with unshed tears and smiles a radiant smile. She says, "Mike, I have loved you in so many ways for so long. It seems natural to be standing here today, joining my life forever with yours. I have loved you as an innocent young girl looks up to her hero, I've loved you as my best friend, and now I love you as a woman, wholeheartedly, with body and soul. You've always stood by me and believed in me. You did what you thought was best for me regardless of the pain it sometimes caused you. You allowed me to make my own mistakes and never judged me. You accepted me. You gave me hope. You had faith in me even when I'd lost faith in myself. This is why I love you. I know that with you I will always be important, cherished, and loved. I want to share my life with you, my fears, my hopes, my dreams, my weaknesses and strengths. I will always love you and cherish you. I promise
