I Am, I Said
by Sockmonkey
July 14, 1997- A Sockmonkey was born.
I was originally a Christmas gift, purchased for my mom by her mom, and my arrival had been much anticipated. However, my mom isn't known for her boundless patience or her excellent sewing skills so I was thrown in the corner until "later".
Then, one day, my mom got bored and began the long task of putting me together.
First, she cut out all of my pieces, sewed my legs, and stuffed my body with cotton. Next, she sewed my arms, tail, and ears to my body. Then, she attached my eyes and mouth. And finally, she made me a little red vest with a matching fez.
Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well, it wasn't. There was much cursing going on. My mom said some really bad things, some were even about me! But, I forgive her because she did her best even though she cannot sew.
If you feel up to the task of making your own Rockford Red Heel Sockmonkey, there are kits available. Some come with everything you need, like stuffing and stuff and others come only with simple instructions and a pair of socks. Once, my mom saw a kit at The Nature Company. The link below will take you to a site where you can get your own Sockmonkey kit:
If you're lazy and unskilled like my mom, you can have someone else make it. The link below will take you to a site that sells sockmonkeys for a reasonable price and it helps people out too.
To make or not make a Sockmonkey is a big decision. Probably one of the biggest ones you will ever make. I suggest, before you take on the responsiblity of an innocent little sockmonkey's life, you visit Nate's page. He is a good sockmonkey who will show you the right path to take.
While you're there, go to Tim's page. He's got attitude!
I'm tired now so let's go...
