A Notherplace
Walking this evening was superb.... catching sounds from above I sat upon my favorite rock watching high above as the geese flew northward overhead, circling to climb in the updrafts. What a spectacular sight, their timing to return homeward coinciding with my arrival home from distant places.
During the last few days my walks have been along the shores of Lake Ontario, close to the cold waters and lapping shores in the shadows of skycrapers and city bustle. Intrigued there I found myself caught sitting for hours looking across the lake off into the horizon. Something new and quite inviting, lost in the sense of dreaming what lay across...beyond.... out of sight... out of touch. Wondering about the messages the waves brought upon the sands before me as they washed back and forth in front of me.
Each time I visit the city I am struck by the sheer magnitude of organization.... streets are organized... people moving in similar rythym.... buildings basically looking the same.... life arranged by stoplights flickering in the darkness and sounds in a continuing never ending low drone. Sitting on my rock now I realize that my little path and the geese soaring above are delightfully simple and less complex .... *laughing*.... thinking ..... I notice them flying in a perfect V-shape... pondering.... *laughing again*.... maybe these are city geese! Walking back tonight the thought came to mind that the trees are the skyscrapers, the owl's sounds the drone, the water in the lake is water, the stars the streetlights, the wildlife move carefully.... yep....maybe... the city is here along this path... near the rock .... around me afterall. *snickering* There is one real big difference though ..... the smell here is enticingly sensuous and like no other place. If I closed my eyes and ears..... that alone would prance volumes through my pores in its journey to my soul......like no other......
