Welcome to the official website of You Must Be Crazy. This new comic strip series is published weekly in the UMBC newspaper, The Retriever Weekly. As the series is published every Tuesday between September and December and between February and May, the weekly comic strip will appear here as well. So if you're a late joiner, or you can't get your hands on the Retriever, remember to come here for your weekly fix of YMBC! You Must Be Crazy is about a handful of college students and their experiences on campus. The first semester (Spring 2000) is mostly one long adventure about the characters' intercourse of events in the secret tunnels under campus. Please read that semester in order. The second semester (Fall 2000) is a random jumble of gags, culminating with a little drama mini-series. The third and final semester (Spring 2001) of You Must Be Crazy, beginning February 6, 2001, will continue to investigate the peculiarities of campus life, classes, and life in general. This will be the most exciting semester yet for Kaster, Jen, Spock, and Jack, so be sure not to miss it! |

Naturally outgoing and with a taste for mischief, Kaster is
a bright young student at the university. Open to new ideas and
eager for some action, one of Kaster's reason's for living on campus
was for the campus life.
Soon after he moved onto campus, he befriended Jack. He met Jen, and after a brief romantic interlude, they settled at just friends. Kaster and Spock have been friends since elementary school. Ned is Kaster's roomate and, even though Ned is a little wierd, they enjoy each other's company.
Jen: Young, supple, and hot enough to roast a hot dog at
twenty paces. She's well endowed and curved in all the
right places. Not exactly a flirt (yet she can be when she wants
to be), Jen is smart and is disgusted by acts of stupidity and
foolishness.
Jen is friends with Kaster and Spock. She hates Jack's living guts with a passion, and one of her and Kaster's recurring arguments is about him hanging around a slob like Jack.
With the permanent haze of beer, Jack is a happy man.
Uncouth in appearence and mannor, Jack favors stained "Big Jon"
T-shirts, thinks crude pick-up lines will actually win over a
girl, and is disgusted that school is one of the biggest things
that take away from his free time on campus.
Despite all of this, Kaster enjoys his company. You could even call the relationship a friendship. Perhaps he thinks some of Jack's boldness with women will rub off onto him. Well, something might rub off of Jack....
Nicknamed for his cold logic and mild manor by those who know him,
Spock is Kaster's best friend and is good friends with Jen.
He is well-dressed, well-groomed,
and lives with his parents. Spock is a commuter -- he drives to school
every day. Not terribly social, but wanting to be, this doesn't help
him very much, as everything that happens, happens on campus after
hours.
Looming at six foot three, Jock is a proud brother of the Tri Chi fraternity (XXX)
and displays his letters whenever he can. But don't quickly
stereotype this character! Jock enjoys reading science fiction
novels, listens to jazz, does his homework, and does
community service when he isn't at loud block parties, drunk off
his ass, and copping a feel.
Ned is Kaster's shy and reclusive roomate. He is a Computer
Science major, and spends his entire time in front of the computer
doing whatever it is Computer Science majors do. Among others,
Ned is quite awkward; he inserts odd comments in conversations
that make you wonder if he's all there. (He is.)
