I wrote this one in expository writing class during a focused free write for about 10 minutes on Cause and effect. I was the only one to do a poem, I felt it made me think quicker. The result made me happy.

If

By Candice D.

What if today is our last?
Then we'd have no future,
and only our past.
If tommorow never came
Some people wouldn't know
They'd just act the same.
All of the procrastinators
the ones to put off until tomorrow
Are going to find that there is none
They don't even have time for sorrow.
And the things you
don't get to do today
they don't matter, you
won't get to do them anyway.
There's no longer
anything to fear
There are no longer
any consequences here
All the fun, the joy,
      the pain
Will now be lifted
from your restrain.
But would we know?
Are we aware?
This day is our last
But would we be scared?
Now is the time
Now is the place
The roses are for you to smell
The food is for you to taste
Some get a warning
lying sick in a bed
Others just leave
They didn't see the light was red.
All of us have
once chance to live
"Those who have recieved much
are expected to give."
A plan for tomorrow
Just shot to hell
When the girl
who planned everything fell
A place for all things
Now is your place in time
The glories of life
Are yours and yours only to find.
Watch everything
"Just Do It" don't just say
For as the song goes
"No day but today"
In all this worry
and all this fright
Remember "live each day as your last"
and one day you'll be right.
