The Princess
The walls close in tightly around her,
with a blanket tucked tightly around,
and a pillow under her head,
a fear for the monsters creeping in the back of her mind
Her knight in shinning armor,
jumps up from his post,
gallops on his horse to the drawbridge,
which opens its mouth and swallows him up.
The beautiful clear sky above,
becomes dark without warning,
the storm creeps in with it’s blackness,
the monsters follow soon.
In that corner is the fire-breathing dragon,
and an Ogre by the bridge.
a snake craws around the pole in the center of town,
and a Gnome jumps around the room.
The brave Princess arises,
she lights her lamp too see the monster that intrude her palace.
The dragon is but a shadow, from the window o’re yonder.
The snake, only a shirt draped on a chair.
Her Ogre is but her television set by the closet.
And her playful Gnome? Her playful kitten.
So for this Princess, on this dark night,
she will leave her drawbridge down,
for the case of a beckoning of her knight,
and the lamp shall stay lit to comfort and protect
