Writers On the Purple Sage

Wanda Rosseland of Circle, Montana, and I put our heads together one day and decided we had grown tired of feeling alone, so we devised a plan to bring together people like ourselves who live in isolation but who love to write.

The purpose of "Writers on the Purple Sage" is, simply, to nurture writers who live in rural areas. We recognize that many who live on the prairie or in the mountains have an urge to write. These people often have a great deal in common, so the kernel of a community exists. But they live far apart, and the distances involved prevent a community from forming.

The purpose of "Writers on the Purple Sage" is to bring these people together, provide them resources so they can form a community that nurtures, gives feedback and otherwise encourages writers who are isolated.

The community has been active since 2000.  It remains small and in its infancy, but we continue to hope Purple Sage can take root in our nation's thin, rural soil.

To date, our efforts include an MSN group, where we communicate with each other, and a Web site where we explain more about ourselves.  (See information box to the upper right.)

Come visit us.  You don't have to be someone who lives in the outback. You simply have to enjoy our company and have a desire to write better.
