Employed at last!

You have to promise not to laugh.

Well, okay, you can laugh. If you must. The job interview I was soooo sure that I completely blew? I got it. I not only got it, but I got the money I wanted. The bummer is that the benefits aren't that great, but I can get decent benefits through Mike's job, so that's okay. The retirement I'm going to have to do on my own, though I'm blowing it off until we get our house. I figure Mike will be working for up to 12 years after I retire, so it'll all work out.

Mike and I talked and we're going to move into an apartment because it will save us quite a bit in utilities and rent and we can put that savings towards credit cards and a down payment. Russell's really pissed off because he's finally making friends in the neighborhood and we're going to move. I told him that we would be able to buy a house and that we'd try very hard to buy one in this neighborhood, so there was a good shot we'd only be gone for 6 months. Though I've got an inkling that we're going to move closer to where we work, but I didn't tell him that. The good news about that for him is that he knows some kids where we are thinking about moving from Genny's daycare and will probably get to know more this summer at his own daycare, so it'd be alright.

We won't know until we actually go about trying to buy a house. By that time, I will have my retirement income available to me and I should be able to borrow against it as well to get into this house.

I'm just tired. I know it will all be worth it in the end, but right now, I'm tired. I did wake my husband up while it was still dark. To my amazement, he did wake up and to my amazement, he woke up TWICE. I figure after about twenty, it's all downhill from there for most guys. He rocks my world.

I walked and swam and lifted weights yesterday, so I'm keepin' on with my exercise and food thing with the self.com challenge. My sugars have been perfect. It's so bizarre to have good sugars again. Now, I am realizing how stressed out I get and how that can't be a good thing.

And while the rest of the country has had record high temperatures, we have had 4 straight days of snow and crappy weather. We haven't had wild accumulations, but there sure is hell is a lot of snow falling for April. We've been getting and inch or two that melts off between snow squalls and then has the audacity to cover our cars by morning.

I keep remembering an overheard conversation where a little old lady was bitching about how they haven't ever had apricots because of April snow storms killing the blossoms before they can set fruit.

Guess who's not gonna have apricots this year, either?

The owners actually fixed something. We were stunned, amazed, dismayed, as usual. As usual, he made a big stinky fit and was an asshole about it and he fixed two things, and only one of those was actually on our list. He did see fit to spend $75 on getting his lawn aerated, but he can't see his way clear to fix the molding under the bathroom floor. Suffice it to say, we can't wait to give them notice and watch them scramble their asses off. We figure we'll be intensely fortunate to see any of our deposit back from these hosebags, just because we know them for the cheap low-class shitbags they are.

I am also digging up the plantings I put in because I'm not leaving anything for these jerks. Of course, that's assuming that the plantings survive the snow. And lookie there....more damned snow out the window.

I have realized that April snow showers will not bring me May flowers. Okay, so SOMEONE better bring me flowers.

I am now going to go downstairs, turn up the furnace to about 80 and melt the ice off my cold black heart and my bright blue butt.
