Wedding bells.

Hi.

My name is Mrs. Wendy Schreiber, which is different than what it was yesterday when it was just Miss or Ms. Wendy Schreiber. And Mike is now Mr. Mike Schreiber. Together we are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schreiber.

My dress got finished Friday night at 1130. Stephanie, my neighbor, came over, helped me finish it up. I was behind a little because the damned car died on the way to get haircuts for me and Bear. We got a rental, but it took time, which when you're trying to finish a complex wedding dress, time is a difficult-to-obtain commodity.

I did get it finished. I looked fabulous. I glowed. I had beautiful flowers and a veil. Robin looked fabulous. Russell and Mike looked darling. We'll have picts and video soon enough, but it was exactly what I wanted. Stephanie said the renaissance-style dress was appropriate because,"A lot of very pregnant women probably got married during the renaissance." I giggled, but dang, I looked faboo.

Well, one thing wasn't faboo. Pauline didn't come. That hurt, but it made me realize that I can't do anything about her weird dysfunctional relationship except tell her that I love her and let her know what I see. She can do what she wants with the information. I just would have liked her there and was sad that she wasn't.

But Karen came. And Eli and Quinn and Robin and Ken were there. Eli kept demanding apple juice from his dad and while I could hear him vocally making these demands in the ceremony, I loved hearing him and having him there. Robin and Ken would have liked to put him in a straight jacket with a gag, but both Mike and I loved to hear him. Our wedding was about children and having Eli and Quinn (only 4 months older than his soon-to-be "cousin," Genevieve) there made it perfect.

Mike stood at the altar waiting for me. Robin went down the aisle next. Then Russell took me down the aisle to Mike. We stood there while the blessing were read and then Canon Marcia asked,"Who gives Wendy to marry Michael?" Russell very matter-of-factly said,"I do!" and placed my hand in Mike's.

I about fell apart right there. I think the hardest part for me was the recitation of the vows. We had to have them memorized beforehand and I had been so calm, but the morning of, I was all ajitter and I stumbled into my vows, it seemed, but I was looking right at Mike's eyes and just wanted to fall into his arms and the words fell out of my mouth like magic.

We went to Spaghetti Factory and had a nice meal with Ken and Robin and the kids. The best thing of the entire day was Russell's toast. He said,"Today is the best day. We had a wedding. We're eating good food and my mom and dad are married." He's a pretty articulate 6.5 year old. Robin and I both "Awwwwwwww"'ed and had eyes brimming with tears. We left around 3.

Pauline's promised babysitting had obviously fallen through, so for our honeymoon, we set Russell up with the Star Wars trilogy on video. We mostly slept for the afternoon, but it was one of those deliriously happy and exhausted sleeps. We woke up, ordered pizza and hung with Russell until he went down to bed. Then we went back to honeymooning and were asleep by 9-930. This morning, we got up at 730 and it was actually OK, for once.

We went out to Denny's this morning for breakfast and then went to Target to use the store credit from the double item from the registry. We got a diaper bag we both could live with. I was kind of pissed off at the guys because they both ditched me and didn't tell me where they were going. I finally went to the home and garden department and found a comfortable chair and just sat down and waited for them to find me. I figured it would finally occur to Mike that I was teed off at him and he'd hunt around til he found me, but I was too tired to move after an hour of being ditched.

We also had bought a bunch of compost and manure, and then came home and have been conditioning the soil, so I can get some tomatoes put in. We got Bear some strawberries and I got some peas. The green thumb has hit.

Please hide your seeds and protect your weeds...The Jolly Green Giant and his pregnant wife are getting busy.
