The Black & White Snipe
Ebonius Ivorious Gallinago
Habitat: Greater North America.
Distinguising features: Nothing in particular, rather dull.

Sometimes called the Laurell & Hardy Snipe for its habit of watching funny, old movies, this bird generally builds its nest in the 1940's, but will settle for old re-runs and westerns. This bird's call is subtle, but howling: Woop-oo-oo-oo-ooooo and generally moves up and down in flight.

Hunting notes: Seen as a collector's mantlepiece, this bird is often a victim of the greedy poacher, looking for the perfect kill to place upon his or her fireplace. This proves once again, as to the great population of those who have not read the rules of snipe hunting and have failed to acknowledge and be held accountable to the moral responsibilities of the snipe hunt. The Laurel and Hardy Snipe must be viewed upon as a classic and not taken for granted like Love Boat re-runs.
