A love that couldn't wait
I lie awake at night.
Visions of your embrace,
keep away my fright.
But nights are too short,
and visions always fade.
Time to dream again.
Dream of a better day.
The nightmare races through
my weak and feeble mind.
Seeing you in another's arms...
Coldness forming, eyes that cry.
I try to wake up
from this awful dream of mine.
Rigor mortis setting in.
I'm awake!!
Just in time.
Tear stained pillows.
Dead roses in the window.
Complete exhaustion
from crying myself to sleep.
Lying awake, darkness fades...
Still visioning your embrace.
But I know I've lost it...
Lost a love, that couldn't wait.
