Strangers in an Even Stranger Land

Reconciliations

Banshee looked sternly from one student to the other.

"Jubilation Lee, Jonothon Starsmore I am greatly disappointed by your behaviour here today. These people were our guests. There was no need for ye to act as ye did!"

Jubilee and Chamber did not look one bit remorseful. Jono just wished he had been able to get a few more hits in before things had gotten broken up. And to top it off that Daemon guy didn't even seem to be hurting! Jubilee meanwhile was nursing a cut lip, while a large, Lexi-fist sized bruise, was beginning to purple nicely on one cheek.

Banshee sighed and handed her a raw steak.

"Put that on ye face lass, it will ease ye bruisin until Doctor McCoy gets a chance to see ye in the med lab.." He looked at the two again sternly. Was there to be no end to this trouble? He knew something had been up when that lad informed him that his group were pacifists.

Moe and Lindsey, meanwhile, were giving their so called teammates their own lecture. The two were not very amused with the recent dearth of fisticuffs which had been springing up around them.

"Lexi, what ever possessed you to beat up on that Jubilee kid?" Moe questioned, a hard look in her eyes, "So what if she's a little annoying, _deal_ with it. You're making us all look bad".

"Oh, so I'm the one who started things now. Not little miss punch before asking' over there," Lexi didn't notice the gleam in India's eye so she unwisely continued. (Luckily for her Daemon did and was able to easily restrain the older girl from killing the younger) " Sides it wasn't me who hit first. She did! I was just minding my own business and pow, I turn around and she clocks me".

"Like she was _so_ unprovoked!!" Jonathan sneered.

"Okay, so maybe I deserved it." Lexi lightly touched her new black eye. She had managed to escape receiving one in the tussle in the Generation X's biosphere but had not been so lucky this time. "Must say that the kid packs a good punch. But man I'm lucky that I managed to get one in of my own. Did you see those sparks coming out of her hands!!!"

Moe was not so easily mollified but she stopped her haranguing of Lexi to focus her attention on Daemon. He squirmed a little under her unwavering gaze.

"And what do you have to say for yourself? What did you do to provoke Chamber?"

"Nothing!! And that's the truth. That is one strange dude!" Daemon shook his head wildly, dreads flying out in all directions, to emphasize this point, "Nope, nada was done to make him angry. Dude must just not like me, you saw him glowering at me the whole trip down."

No one could really disagree with that. Jono did seem to have it in for Daemon for some peculiar reason. Something tugged at the back of India's mind but she couldn't quite place it so she choice to ignore it.

Lindsey took up the role of lecturer, turning the focus back upon the original problem. India and Jonathan.

{Okay guys, you're going to have to deal with this. It doesn't exactly help us if you two decide to beat the crap out of each other every five minutes.}

With simultaneous cries of "He started it" and "She started it", both India and Jonathan leapt to their feet. The two were quite a sight, with black eyes, puffed up lips and bloody noses. In any other situation Lexi would have laughed, but she decided she wasn't feeling all that brave at the moment.

{QUIET!! You will listen to _me_ for once} the normally passive Lindsey was beginning to get really pissed off. {We can't have you two fighting anymore. We'll just have to stay here and work it out for once and for all before any of us leave.}

Great', Lexi rolled her eyes. What are the odds of us ever leaving this room?'

Hank closed the door with a puzzled look on his face. Jean questioned him with a glance.

"I've been informed that they do not wish to avail themselves of the medical facilities at the current time as they are otherwise occupied resolving their internal differences. We will be notified immediately once the situation has been settled and until that time they have requested not to be disturbed for any reasons." Hank continued to look puzzled "Oh, and due to the secrecy of the peace talks, no news bulletins will be posted."

{Are those your words or theirs?} was Jean's sardonic reply.

{Okay, so let me get this straight. You're main problem with Jonathan India is that he insists of acting like the leader despite the fact that you won the right to lead our merry little band in your boat racing contest.}

"Exactly" the note of triumph in India's voice rang out.

{And you Jonathan refuse to acknowledge this because...}

"Well she... It's like this, India... She.. Well, she didn't exactly take control when we started this dimension leaping gig and so I thought that someone had to...." Jonathan's voice trailed off when he realized he didn't have a leg to stand on.

"And did it ever occur to you, either of you" Moe glared at India which quickly removed the gloating smile from her face, "that we don't need a leader?"

"Uh..."

The door to the room opened, abruptly waking up Beast who had fallen asleep. He yawned and tried to straighten himself up as the six trooped out. Well they certainly didn't look any worse then they last did, despite Banshee saying that they appeared to resolve all internal conflicts with violence. In fact that didn't even look all that angry with each other anymore.

"We're ready to go to the medical lab now Dr. McCoy", the tall blonde said carefully. "I do hope that it isn't too late for you to fix us up." "No, not at all..." Hank waited for some sign of dissent from her teammates. "Uh... I guess you have settled your differences?" He looked from one young person to the other hopefully. "What differences?" Lexi gave a hoot as Hank grew more and more perplexed, "Oh, you mean that little fight thing earlier. Pssshha, that was earlier. As my first foster mother always told me, never go..."

{Lexi, don't go to far.} With a dig in her ribs and a silent reproof, Lexi wisely acknowledged the strained smiles on Jonathan and India's faces.

"Shall we?" She chirped brightly.

Hank followed them as they all trooped towards the med lab. He wondered what the Professor would make of the six when they were finally introduced.
