Hard

(with excerpts from Don McLean's "Till Tomorrow")

I've got a dandelion in my belt
and a full moon 'round my heart, and
my hand in yours held close, hold it hard
And I wonder why the stars loom in your eyes...
like a child of the gods...
"I've been wanting to ask you-
where has all the love gone
                           and what have we become?"
I've got a sliver in my finger
and a blood-stain on my face, and
my body by yours held close, grip me hard
And I wonder how you can be so full of love...
and still have some left over...
"Though I hope it won'r rain-
you will be fine, and my sorrow
will take wings in the morning"
You've got a tear in your eye
and a half-assed smile on your lips, and
your face by mine held close, kiss me hard
And I wonder when we'll next be together...
open flowers reaching for the sun...
                        "Can you tell me-
would you like to discover why
we're not free to be lovers"
