Danielle~Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore is delightful as Danielle, the star character. I personally
think that she is the only person who could have done such a good job. Danielle,
although poor,is a very smart and educated person because she is a devoted reader
with strong views and opinions on important matters that most people don't take the time to think about. Unfortunately
Danielle never knew her mother but did have a close relationship with her father. She
bears up tremendously under horrible treatment for her step-mother and sister, but
lives happily ever after in the end.
Prince Henry~Dougray Scott
Dougray Scott also does a wonderful job as the future heir to the throne who
yearns for freedom and starts out with a lot to learn about life and love,
but comes around after he meets and falls in love with Danielle who shows him
the way he should view life and the possibilities it holds for him.And in the
end with Danielle's help he becomes our charming Prince anyways.
Rodmilla~Anjelica Housten
A.K.A. the evil step-mom who could care less about anyone other than
herself and Marguerite. You might at times think she may actually kind-of love
Danielle, but by the end of the movie it's proved that she has no likes for
"pebbles in shoes".
Marguerite~Megan Dodds
The evil step-sister.
Jacqueline~Melanie Lynskey
The nice one who cares about Danielle and is disgusted by the actions of her
mother and sister.
Auguste~Jeroen Krabbe
Danielle's father who dies tragically shortly after returning home to his
daughter with his new wife, the Countess, and her two daughters.
Grande Dame~Jeanne Moreau
The eventual great-grand daughter of Danielle who sets out to tell the
Brothers Grimm the real story.
Leonardo Divinchi~Patrick Godfrey
Talented artist and friend to nearly everybody including Prince Henry
and Danielle who he helps, and also builds beautiful wings to dress her
up with for the Ball. An all around nice guy.
King Francis~Timothy West
Prince Henry's usually grumpy and demanding dad.
Queen Marie~Judy Parfitt
Prince Henry's Mom-a little more understanding than her husband.
