nordestinho is based on the folk rythm from the brasilian nordeste, the baiao.

the melody is somewhat simetrical and should be played by some flutes or fifes.
the middle section is a fugato based on the initial theme, and developed in four parts by the piano, the flute and the bass. the pedal point brings us back to the theme.
the final vamp is actually the original idea from which the whole piece was composed.
