sodade is rythmically based on the morna, a sad song from the cabo verde islands, the land of cesaria evora.
it has a slowly evolving melody which evokes the longing for the distant arid homeland where the rain never falls and where sand and sea are all you have to go home to.
yet the people there have managed to create a beautiful musical culture, amazingly rich in its harmony...
