Four . . . three . . . two . . . one. The space
ship Champaca has just blasted off the launching pad.
From
the screen, you feast your sight upon the magnificence
of the galaxies, the planets and the asteroids
of the
expanding universe. And you haven't noticed at all
that you've reached the Champaca air station 307.
Did you say "Take me to your leader"?
Well, there
is the president, Agustin Sevilla coming over to meet
us.
Though he is at times temperamental, he has the
qualities that make him a good leader. With him is the
vice
president Cesar Salayo and the lady secretary Emma de
la Pena. Mrs. Felipa Tintero is the adviser of this
air
station.
The first stop in our space itinerary
is a visit
to the art gallery. Here the exhibited paintings were
executed
by very promising artists Resurreccion Sulit and
Caridad Garcia.
Soon as we leave the gallery, we come
across the
"indefatigable boys" Gabriel Buenaventura, Delano
Mendoza, Kagitingan Garcia and Francis Paco. They
never seem to tire out and they make life in 307
enjoyable.
The very contrast of these boys are
Rodolfo
Victoriano, Francisco Pascual and Antonio Pascual
(they're
not related). You could harly hear a squeak from them
the whole day.
Say now, is that a party? That's swell!
We've got
several good dancers over here. The lady with the
danciest feet is Tessie Hernandez. Tha's why boys
always seek her for a partner whenever it comes to the
hop. Anyone for Tarita? Araceli ballelos does a very
hip-swinging Tahitian number. Maria Paz Tagle digs the
mashie-mashie and Sixto Salumbides still goes for the
oldie but goodie boogie beat.
Look over there, near the corner
of the hall.
Huddled on that bench ther is a group of cute
girlies! Want to
meet them? Evelyn Curiano, Aurora Santos, Zenaida
Pablo, Aurora Tonson and Evelina Ruiz, meet our guest.
That girl with the longest ponytail is Teresita
Rivera. Talking with her is Josefina Rolle. Should you
want to call
for these two, just ask for the grils with the boy's
shoes on . . . they are the only ones who wear them.
What
we may call chattering birds are Pacita Pascual and
Lourde sSantos. They just can't let a day pass without
sharing news (?) with each other. They might as well
be reporters.
Let us drop by the theater ther on
the bend. That
is the academy award winner, Felice Prudente, a
one-time "Actrss of the Year " of the Students'
Theatre. She is a very sweet girl who reminds us of a
young
Hollywood Pollyana. A combined artist and actress is
Letty Perez. Raquel Roa and Ruth Sarmenta are very
good singers. Do you want to hear an excellent
interpretation of poems? Elmer Sta. Ana and Wilma
Guerrero
have the power to make us ascend "the ladder upon
which the dreamer ascends to the stars" by their
poetic
reading.
Now we come to the field of sports.
Among those
who have made names for themselves in this field are
Ma. Rosario Victorino, long shot expert; Christine
Foz, a great dribbler and guard. Jaime Gonzales is a
great
basketball player.
Let's see now, oh yes, the math wizards!
if you're
stuck with a problem of solving for the unknown,
either
Jose Carmelo Singson, Proceso Balauag or Raul Desipeda
will help you get out of your uncomfortable
predicament if you ask for their assistance.
Should you get lost in our space station,
we have
two fellows, Horacio Arandela and Conrado Bautista,
handsome Explorers always willing and able to help
you.
So, that ends our trip, folks! See
you in the next
flight ot the moon.
