These are the poems published in December 1997. The site took a vacation during the holidays.
impressions ---
taking off is shooting off into a blue infinity
we flew over cotton candy cloud formations
the majestic quilt -- patches of brown and green and yellow laid out in
3-dimensional pyramid of hills
the river gracefully stitched through the vastness and richness of masses
of earth
at one point, we seemed to be diving straight into the deep blue sea
flight is assuming a state of pure poetry
islands reduced to contour maps from way up
i felt a merging of two antithetical emotions -- absolute power and
utter helplessness
anxiety, joy, fear, conquest, peace -- i went through them all today
i had a windfall of extremes of emotion today
take-off : 1:05 pm
touchdown : 2:25 pm
we circled 3 times before touchdown and for a moment i thought that
we were not going to land at all
my ears were objecting to the pressure of changing altitude
every dawn
i whisper
to the still brilliant moon
while the morning star
attempts to eavesdrop
from a distance away
the vigil
of the crescent moon
and the eavesdropping
morning star
has ceased.
