For January, 2000
 
 

                                                            am simply so thrilled
                                                about year 2000

                                                wrote letters
                                                even checks
                                                just for the sheer pleasure
                                                of writing the 2000 date

                                                have not gotten over
                                                a millennium worth
                                                of excitement
                                                from the celebration
                                                of a bug-free event

                                                            good grief
                                                he is sick
                                                and has retired

                                                Lea Salonga on Broadway
                                                Seurat, Matisse
                                                the Nutcracker Suite
                                                Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

                                                how marvelous
                                                that the postal system
                                                is quite late
