Thank you so much for the picture you sent talagang you are so thoughful and masipag.  Sorry
it took me sometime to acknowledge receiving it alam mo naman procastinator ako and
tamad talaga sumulat at busy kuno sa trabajo.

My father is Antonio Ernesto Gonzalez Foz from Aparri, Cagayan and my mother is Dolores
Diaz from Tabaco, Albay.  Dad was a lawyer and Mom was a teacher. Both are graduates of
UP but during their time there was no Diliman yet so, all their sweet memories happened in
Padre Faura.

Subject: Re: I checked your story about your parents

What a kindred thought!!1  Would you believe I have been thinking
about e-mailing you my parents' names and request to enclose the story
I had written -- as it is very Prep-appropriate one in terms of the
context of how it was told -- (that was actually the first time I had
written about them in that regards, althought I have told the story
many times to my children and Hermie's family -- pero sa class natin
naibuhos ang istorya and you know why) --to include in your wonderful
project for our site -- YES, I was thinking about doing it the whole
morning, and last night before going to bed.  You see, I saw the
request about the parents names and the entire response completely
only last night kasi nagloloko ang system ko -- meaning the ocmputer
where I have access to our exchanges.  That's why hindi ako
maka-download agad ng lahat ng sulat in one sitting, at hindi ako
makapag-padala.  I felt bad nga dahil  I wanted to reach Maria Paz
pero hindi naman pumapasok....also I wanted to tell you so many things
-- ask you if you have received my padala thru Girlie -- nagustuhan
     mo ba?

Anyway, here are my parents' names:

Prima de Veyra Astorga (she passed away 1976; she would have been 90
by year June 9, 2000) - from Tanauan, Leyte

Basiliso Avestruz Astorga, from Barugo, Leyte (passed away 1965); he
would have turned 100 years old April 12, 2000)

I still miss them so much Ana b.  Now, I'm starting to cry,

Keep well, keep in touch and warm regards,

     Mila

Here's my bio:

My mother's name is Maria Aurora Salvador Mauricio, originally from
Meycawayan,
Bulacan (not sure of the spelling now). Their family later settled in
Tondo,
Manila. I never knew my grandparents on my mother's side since they died
when my
mom was very young. My mother was a nurse and was known as 'Mommy' to
most of her
friends and associates. Family called her either Auring or Aurie. She
died 6 years
ago of breast cancer.

My father's name is Vicente Garcia Sabalvaro Jr. from Tanauan, Batangas,
known as
Junior or Vincent.. He is a retired engineer/government liaison residing
here in
the States. The Garcia name connects Hermie Garcia and I as distant
cousins since
his family is also from Tanauan. I am also distantly related to Jimmy
Gonzales from
one of the branches of our family tree from Tanauan.

To continue the saga...My parents met on a Pullman train going from
California to
Detroit (where I was born) in the late 40s. They have both just arrived
in the
States to study. They tell us it was love at first sight.  I have two
brothers,
Vincent III and Benjie (born in NY City while my dad was at Columbia)
and an
adopted sister, Bernadette. We all live in the states now.

My husband, Rudy (from San Pablo, Laguna) and I have no children of our
own but we
are kept busy with parenting by our nieces and nephews. A nice
arrangement, since
we can send them home when they become problems.

As a result of this survey, I found out that I can only go back six
generations
from the youngest member of our family - up to my great-grandfather.  I
know the
Sabalvaro name has Italian origins. After that the trail is very
cold....How far
back can you guys go????

This is fun ....Jojo

Subject: Why in the world

would you like to know our parents' names?  I have a guess. Is it
because of the line in the poem? or article about simple friends vs real
friends - A simple friend does not know your parents' first names; a
real friend has their telephone number in their address books.  So Ana,
I'll  give you more info about them. I'll give their address and
telephone number. Para real friend talaga!
My father is German C. (for Cruz) Esguerra, Jr. and my mother is
Esther Bunyi-Esguerra. They both come from Taytay, Rizal and still live
at # 5 Loyola St., Taytay, Rizal.  Their phone number is 658-7574. So
there, hope we live up to being real friends. Ana, suggestion lang, we
should have a profile of our own families, you know, for those who are
married, their husband's name, children's names and addresses and for
single ones, their parents" names, brothers & sisters and their
addresses on our website. What do you say?

Okay! You probably got my father, since I am a junior. His middle name was
Garcia. He was from Macabebe, Pampanga. My mother was Julie Mesa Ungson.
The Mesas were from Iloilo, the Ungsons from Alaminos and Lingayen,
Pangasinan...

BY the way, I was able to make it to the funeral of Maripaz' mother after
three hours of travel. Sa sementeryo ng Imus na lang ako umabot. Small
world talaga, Lu's family are related to the tagles pala. She is still in
the US, so I just told Maripaz, we would "visit" her on November 1, since
LU's family mausoleum is very near hers. Maripaz was so impressed with our
class --- dalawa iyong bulaklak na dumating. I guess Ruth and I got our
communications wires crossed. Pero buti na iyong dalawa kaysa wala hindi
ba. At saka sabi ko sa kanya may mass cards from Ling, Rory at Pat hindi ko
lang nakuha dahil sa baha...

Ano bang premyo ng pinakamaraming mahulaang parents? entrance tickets to
the Millenium Reunion in rainy La Union (hahahaha). I think we have to
re-think the August schedule for the reunion. Mukhang mauulanan lang ang
mga balikbayan. Ano kaya kung December 2000 sa taas ng MArc II Building???

Dear Ana,
Last night I told Andy of your message, and that I probably got it wrong --
that you wanted us to guess the names of our classmates parents -- not give
the names of our parents.

So Andy said that of course he remembers all their names: Mr. and Mrs.
Reyes, Mr. and Mrs. Salayo (Cesar Sr. of course), Mr. and Mrs. Salumbides...
I added Judge and Mrs. Garcia, Dr. and Mrs. Pascual.

See, we remember all their "names."  And we started to laugh.  Thanks for
ushering in a good moment for us.

Affectionately, Felice

You must've been the 4th person to point that out.  Good thing, everyone's
aware of this Californian's whereabouts.  Of course I remember you telling us
about the reunion with Debbie and Aida.  I just thought they'd have returned
home by now.
I forget nag summer break pala ang prof Aida!

Eto naman ang pangalan nang aking mga magulang:

Elviro Reyes Albaladejo III ("Bing")  - deceased

Mercedes Palma Albaladejo ("Mayme") - living in Molino, Bacoor Cavite

Siya, babalitaan na lang namin kayo kapag nakarating na ang mga narses...

Dear Ana,
My father is Nemesio Encarnacion Prudente (from Salinas, Rosario, Cavite)
known as Mensing or Prud.
My mother is Ruth Yulo Garcia-Prudente (from Jaro, Iloilo and Kabankalan,
Negros Oriental) known as Ruthie.

Andy's father was Andres Sta. Maria Sr. (from Lubao, Pampanga) known as
Dedeng. (Papa never used his middle name or initial.  My sister in law is
now trying to find out Papa's middle name as a result of your survey!)
Andy's late mother was Lourdes Farro Basa-Sta. Maria (from Binondo, Manila)
known as Dede.

Is this what you need?  I have added a little more data for fun.

Fondly, Felice
