This was my first printed art after college. The paper's illustrator focused more on maps and news graphics, and there was no image to accompany a wire article on religious newsgroups and chatrooms. I was making pages, copy editing, and adjusting photos for print, but I worked out a deal with the news editor so I could tackle images at home or during downtime at the office (and there's a lot of it, we'd edit pages and wait sometimes hours to see a printed paper). This was drawn with art pencils on watercolor paper to give it texture. I followed the classic triptych frame style of medieval icons.
