A year after the first tax image, I was asked to try another, focusing this time on folks unprepared for new tax laws. I suggested a horror poster motif, and, because I was working with a relatively young editor, I got the greenlight. I showed a sketch for approval before painting this at an unusally large size in acrylic. I think I knocked out the painting in one night. I also provided the text, and got the approval before scanning the painting into Illustrator and adding the words there. Again, this was going to run large, so I could spread out the design elements.
