Some basic learning:
Chanukah is generally spelled Hanukkah, but I've been told the most correct way is with a "Ch" and only one "k". That is because it is the closet English spelling to the Hebrew. Also, Chanukah does not fall on Christmas Eve {although it did this year} because it's tied in with Christmas. They are two different Holidays, for two different religions. Our holiday goes on the based on the moon, along with all the other holidays. Also, Chanukah is not the most important holiday, people just assume that because it falls around Christmas. In reality, the two most important holidays are Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipper, which follows Rosh Hashana 10 days after and you fast on it to relieve your sins. These two fall near Sept., or in 1997, October. I know in my town, it's a battle to get these two days off and we only get one. Rosh Hashana. I'm one of the few {about 5} in my public school who has to bring in the a note and say I missed school for a Religious Holiday. Anyways, that's just a little tidbit. Another way you might have seen Chanukah spelled: Hanukkah.
Well, guess what happened to me today, or whenever you might be reading this, it happened on the 18th of Dec '96. I got in trouble for not showing respect for something I believe in. What ever happened to freedom of speech, the press and religion? Have I missed something that says "Everyone must now believe in Jesus?" Now, I know what some of you are thinking, I'm a bad person, but you know what? Like I said, the first Ammendment states that I have freedom to have my own religion, as long as it falls in a certain guide lines, and so far, I know nothing that is illgeal. So, I just thought I'd tell all one of you who have been to my page about my prejudice event that happened today. It just shows you have "great" America really is...
