Confidante
Epilogue
Katheryn dropped her purse on her bed and sat down heavily. Buffy had walked her home after accepting the excuse of changing her mind about not being afraid. She should have never started that lie.
Now the Slayer would have more reason to hate Angelus. One or the other of them could end up dead.
"So this is what your room looks like," Angelus said from the window.
Katheryn turned quickly, jumping off the bed. "How did you...? What...?" She paused and gave him a puzzled look. "Can you fly?"
Angelus laughed, clutching the outer windowsill for support. "Of course not."
"But we're on the second floor."
"I can't fly, but I can climb."
Katheryn took a few steps forward and realized he had climbed up the trellis. She grinned. "Well, well, Romeo. I had no idea you were such a determined fellow. To climb all the way up here after little ol' me."
"Well, Juliet, after you left with Buff, what else could I do?" He arched a brow and gave her a look of pure seduction. "Aren't you going to invite me in?"
She snorted. "Angelus, we need to get a few things straight. One, I am not stupid. I'll never allow you in my house. My family would be in danger. Two, think of me more like your confidante than lover. We talk well together and you need to talk to someone about Buffy or you'll drive yourself insane with all that obsession."
He gave her a level stare. "I'll get to you eventually, sweetheart, you can cound on it. And you'll pay for making me wait." Then he was gone.
Katheryn rushed to the window and saw him on the lawn below. He gave her a deep bow, then turned and sauntered off.
Oh, what did you get yourself into now? she asked herself.
A very interesting relationship, she answered flippantly and went to take her shower.
