Millenium: Not Too Late
We've got stars directing our fates
And we're praying it's not too late
Millennium
"Looks like the party's winding down," Angel commented, causing Willow to slide out of his arms and rise to her feet.
"Angel, I want to thank you, but I'm not sure how," she began, but he silenced her by placing his finger on her lips.
"Don't worry about it," he whispered. "But I want you to know something." She looked up at him. "If you need any help with...anything, hospital bills or just someone to talk to, don't hesitate to call me," he ordered. She nodded her eyes misting up again. He started to disappear into the shadows, but Willow's hand on his arm stopped him.
She stood up on the tips of her toes and kissed him with the same gentleness he had kissed her, but this time, she took the kiss further and deepened it, darting her quickly inside. Angel wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him as he returned the kiss in kind. They both pulled away at the same time, and he smiled softly down at her.
"What was that for?" he asked in a teasing voice.
"I missed you, too," she whispered, hugging him hard before releasing him. He melded back into the night with any parting words. Willow stood on the front walk watching the shadows for any sign of Angel until she was broken out of her revelry by someone clearing their throat.
"You been out here all night?" Cordelia asked, stepping up beside her.
"Yep."
"Angel's been here, hasn't he?" Willow didn't respond, she just looked sheepishly away from Cordelia. "'Bout time. You're all he ever talks about. Which beats him brooding over Buffy, I guess."
"He talks about me?" Willow asked, looking up in surprise.
"Oh, come on, you didn't see the heat in his eyes when he looked at you?" Willow shook her head. "Blind as a bat," Cordy muttered.
"I need to go home," Willow murmured, sudden feelings welling up side of her and she needed to be a lone to sort them out.
"I'll give him your number!" Cordy called out as Willow hurried down the sidewalk.
"C-Cordelia?" Giles asked, stepping up behind her. "We desperately need to talk."
"Giles, the kiss was a fluke."
"What?"
"A Hellmouth fluke, like Riley falling onto Spike's teeth."
"What, you just fell onto my lips, is that what I should tell anyone who witnessed our kiss?"
"I assure, Giles, no one saw. They were all occupied," she snapped.
"Cordelia," Giles began, but she cut him off with a sudden kiss.
"That was me falling onto your lips," she replied, pulling away. She started to walk down the front walk but stopped when she realized Giles wasn't with her. "You coming," she tossed over her shoulder, "I know an all night diner we can go to." Giles started then followed her.
Oz stepped out of the house just as Cordelia got into Giles' car. She waved at him, and he nodded in reply. He stepped down off the porch as Xander stepped out of the house.
"Oz, wait!" Xander called out. Oz stopped and turned to the boy. "I, um, I think I'm ready to talk. About things," he explained. Oz nodded. "Is there--"
"I'm here for you, Xander," the smaller boy whispered. "There's a diner not far from here if you want...."
"I'd like that; I-I really would," Xander replied, amazed at the emotion in his voice.
"Cool," Oz replied. They started towards Oz's van.
"Oz!" Buffy's voice called out.
"I'm popular tonight," he commented. Buffy bounced down the stairs and up to him.
"I wanted to thank you." She continued at Oz's confused look. "For whatever you did to Xander. He seemed almost back to normal."
"No problem, Buffy. My pleasure," he replied. Buffy hugged him quickly and went back to stand next to Spike at the bottom of the porch. Oz climbed into the van, and he maneuvered the van towards the diner.
"So, what now, pet?" Spike asked, looking down at the blonde girl beside him.
"Giles wanted me to do a quick sweep. Wanna come?" she offered.
"Wouldn't miss it, pet," he replied. "I just need to get something." Buffy watched in confusion as he walked around the corner of the house. He appeared seconds later with his hands behind his back.
"What did you do, Spike?" she asked, warning creeping into her voice. He removed his hands from behind his back and revealed the bouquet of small purple flowers he'd just picked. He handed them to her with a definite nod of his head. "What are these for?" she laughed.
"I'm courtin' you," he replied.
"You are so weird," she commented as they walked down the walkway.
"I try, love. I try," he whispered.
From under one of the many bushes in the Summers' lawn, a soft cooing sound came as Drusilla stroked the brunette Slayer's hair and muttered soothing words as if comforting a frightened child.
"Don't fret, kitten. Mummy's here," she whispered. "Mummy won't let them hurt you anymore," she muttered as she watched Buffy and Spike head out on patrol.
And deep within Faith an unknown hunger was stirring.
