Laurie Anderson "Mister Heartbreak"
Rating: 10 out of 10
On this album, Ms. Anderson brings in both Peter Gabriel (Track 5, "Excellent Birds") and William S. Burroughs (Track 7, "Sharkey's Night").  An altered version of Track 5 is heard on Mr. Gabriel's very famous "So" album.  This CD is more New Wave than her first & has a less overt elektronik sound.  Once more, she narrates some songs, like Track 6 ("Blue Lagoon") (which is daydream inspiring).  She also sings -- quite well and in French (Track 2, "Langue D'amour").  Different & good.  Available from CDnow & maybe as a used CD at your local CD store (& as I find myself saying quite often 2 myself, it's better 2 have it used than not at all!).

Peter Gabriel "So"
Rating: 10 out of 10
This is probably Peter Gabriel's most popular album.  It's one of two Gabriel albums I own, & I bought this only for his version of "Excellent Birds" (Track 9, called "This is the Picture (Excellent Birds)") (see Laurie Anderson's "Mister Heartbreak" album).  By accident, I was impressed w/ the album, especially Track 6 ("Mercy Street") and Track 3 ("Don't Give Up"), which R both emotional songs, a little down-trodden, songs.  Oh, & this album includes his hits "Sledgehammer" & "Big Time" (Trax 2 & 7).  It's elektronik rock, without anything terribly outstanding as far as synthesis goes but it's a good album.  Available at CDnow.

Peter Gabriel "Security"
Rating: 10 out of 10
This album is another good Gabriel one, but the one that stands out the most to me is "I Have the Touch", not only 4 its unusual subject matter, but also for its drum introduction, which feels surprisingly "industrial" in rhythm.  This may just be my own opinion; I don't know how others feel about it, but it seems that way to me.  On to other matters, the rest of the album is enjoyable, and this contains "Shock the Monkey", a famous track.  His vocal style is well represented here, too.  Buy it at music blvd.
