Oh the pretty pastel roses
That you tended carefully
Couldn't help but bloom and grow
The way I did when you loved me
Now I'm watering your roses
As the dusk crawls to my door
But it's the watercolor sunset
That I'm out here waiting for
Oh the watercolor sunsets
That I now admire alone
Fade away in soft rememberance
Of a time when you were home
And our last watercolor sunset
I remember vividly
Because its brightness lit a path for you
As you turned and walked from me
Now the sky is ebony
Its vastness scattered with bright stars
Once more I slide into our bed
And I wonder how you are
Do you still watch the sunsets?
Do they touch your memory?
I'm hoping they might change your mind
And lead you home to me
Oh our last watercolor sunset
Was the best I'd seen in years
It shone upon your Dresden cheek
As I reached to catch your tears
And our last watercolor sunset
I remember vividly
Because its brightness lit a path for you
As you turned and walked from me
Taking your love away from me
