The Blinds and the Deafs
What happens when you have one blind person and one deaf person were at the scence of a crime? One will see no evils ,so is the other will hear no evils. Actually the crime was committed right in front of them! Remember the movie? It was hilarious and I love the movie.( My apologies to the blind and deaf people; I meant no offence and disrespects to them).
Honestly, the *really* blind people are those who turn a blind eye and the *really* deaf people are those that turn a deaf ear to what is going on around them. Their numbers far exceeded the physically blind and deaf people in this world. Everone of them has his /her own reasons for doing so. In all humility, everyone of us is one of them ; one time or the other and I am not excluded.
Why did we turn a blind eye or a deaf ear? Don't we care enough to say something or do something about it? I can't answer for you because I don't know your reasons . I have to answer for myself because I am guilty as charged!
When I was small, I used to read the story of six blind men and an elephant. Using their hands, each one of them tells a different story about the same thing. All of them disagree with one another because they touched on different parts of the elephant body. Similarly, in another story, four men want an apple but they uttered different names in four different languages! Only men of knowledge and wisdom will see the truth!
Remember the saying, " Seeing is believing"? It is not true in all the cases. Sometimes, it is the light playing tricks on us;and sometimes we see what we want to see and not what it really is.
Seeing and hearing are only tools that captures visuals and sounds to our minds. The mental faculties will process these inputs and subsequently the mind(rational) and the heart ( prejudice and emotions) will translate that into information and knowledge. The inputs may be the same but the outputs and the outcomes may differ from person to person.
By the way, which is more reliable, seeing or hearing? In case of a particular incident, seeing is more believing than just hearing from a person if I am not at the site of where the incident took place. However,if it shown on TV, I only see what the cameraman and the film editor wanted me to see. It is not the whole picture. On the other hand, what we hear is what is being told to us by someone. He may be telling the truth, but it is not the truth as it is . It is what he understood or perceived. And he is also limited by his command of the language. In the final analysis, what I understood is again limited by my mental faculties to understand. The truth is still out there!
I was informed by a friend that our ears were created first before we get our eyes while we were in our mother's womb. When we sleep, our eyes are closed and yet our ears are open. Even though our ears are open, we are not listening to any sounds when we are asleeping but we can be waken up by a noise and not by sight. Strange but true!
The sights and sounds are multi billion dollars businesses. Just look at TV,video, music etc. These technologies provide entertainment to the masses; at the same time culture, information and knowledge. However, these technologies also become conduits for yellow culture, propaganda and half truths. IMHO, we should be wary of all these elements!
Our eyes and our ears are our tentacles to the outside world. Make sure our minds and our souls are
capable to filter and differentiate between the good ,the bad and the ugly.
I SEE NO EVILS AND I HEAR NO EVILS.....
