While waiting for Shelly to do his job, you could check out two books that went on this trip with us. Frommer's 98 Mexico edited by Suzanne Roe Jannetta and Neil Schlecht, and Loney Planet Mexico with a long list of contributors. While there is a lot of overlap between these two, each seemed to have strong points at different places. We would often refer to one for a town map and another for the restaurant recommendation in that town. Sometimes it's just nice to get a second opinion when you're not a local.
