It's amazing how rapidly such catch-phrases spread, too. A friend
who is a VP of telecommunications has recently been traveling all over
the country meeting with vendors of a new kind of system he is
purchasing. In order to make an informed decision, he has to sign an
agreement not to reveal trade secrets he learns in the course of his
evaluation of the products. He told me that the representative of
every company he has dealt with so far has said, "As soon as you sign
the agreement, we'll lift the kimono." Each seemed to feel that this
somewhat distasteful metaphor was the height of corporate in-speak.
