Teacup Home....................... (for Annette)

Another tornado has blown the house away
This time the whole place has been shattered
We walk amid the rubble finding memories
a broken doll, a wedding photo, mama's favorite plate

Were our dreams destroyed by that wind?
Were our hopes blown all apart too?

Gently I lift a teacup from the ground
unbroken, unsoiled, as clean as if new
"This will be our new beginning," I tell you
"With this and this alone we can build again."

You smile at me and take my hand.
You gently squeeze it and gaze into my eyes.
"Oh yes," you say. "I never liked that house much anyway.
But the teacup has always been my home."
