The War of the Crown, as it was called, lasted for four years. It
was fought between Prince Kurl and Prince Riven, with Kurl
wanting the throne from Riven, who was to be crowned after the
death of King BlueLight, so called because a King's name could
never be uttered again after the crowning. Kurl and Riven were
twins of a sort, separated by just a few days; their mother had
died in the birth of Kurl, yet he was none worse the wear of it. In
fact, his mother's death seemed to provide him extra life.
For this reason, most saw him as evil.
When the time came, Prince Kurl marched an army into
the ceremony and quietly asked for the Crown. He was
prepared to take it by force, but he preferred that his brother
would hand it over for "reasons of which my sibling is acquainted
of"--though the Prince Riven insisted he knew "nothing of my
brother's idiot accusations." Someone attacked, and someone
else repelled, and the War was on.
In the end, though, Prince Kurl lost, and he and his
rebels went into hiding. Prince Riven assumed the throne,
though his coronation had to wait a year, for there could be no
festival with a ruined countryside.
And Prince Kurl was hated even more than before...
And everyone loved Prince Riven more...
And the secrets between the two were kept silent.
