A
Tribute to Phil Hartman
He made us laugh with his many celebrity impersonations on Saturday Night Live.
Impersonations included President Clinton, Frank Sinatra, Ed McMahon, Charlton Heston,
Ronald Regan and Jack Nicolson. We later grew to
love his adorable character voice-overs on the TV show The Simpsons, Lionel Hutz- the
shady "law-talking guy" (as he puts it in one episode), Bart's big brother Tom,
The actor Troy McClure, and let us not forget the guy who sold Springfield a monorail,
Lyle Lanly
In recent years, he has been a permanent fixture on the hit TV show, Newsradio as the vain
newsman Bill McNeal. He never failed to make us laugh with his "What's the Deal with
Bill McNeal" reports. He will be deeply missed by all, but we can all take comfort in
the fact that he will live on, both in our hearts-whether we are being funny ourselves or
we are impersonating a celebrity. He will also live on in reruns of such shows as Saturday
Night Live, The Simpsons and Newsradio.
Rest In Peace, Phil Hartman
